Sections of Naalaye Axmed (Dhulbahante) settle in Sanaag. The last battle in Sanaag has taken place in Soolka Damala Xagare in 1991. Damalare is 45KM away from Erigavo. The HY was crushed that they could not offer a fight back. They lost 200 men that the wounded used to be found in the forest for weeks to come.
