You could say that he was a very intelligent politician not only for his time as president of somaliland but also for his time in somalia as well.*Nobleman* wrote:Egaal AUN- Spent all his money and effort in uniting the tribal elders. He was a selfless man that loved his country and created the basic foundations for lasting peace. A man well ahead of his time.
You could say he was a man ahead of his time and without him somaliland would be nothing.

AUN Cigaal
I heard one story about Cigaal that made me love him. Not sure if its true. I heard that when he passed away AUN, there was not even a family house for the taacsi to be held in. Goes to show how selfless the man was. Compare that to others on the poll who are rumoured to have multiple mansions across the globe.

Re: Best Somaliland President
i believe tuur had the hardest presidency, at a time when the country was jus recovering from war, people just comin back from camps to devestated cities, building morals, not much economy to work with. on top of that he was a true braveheart fighting in the front line for the cause, he has my vote.

Riyaale the lord of all idoors
Re: Best Somaliland President
Silanyo- Can not be judged until his five year term is over
Tuur- Had by far the hardest job of all of the presidents and is my choice for the best president. His presidency will be blighted by two mistakes, firstly, attending a tribal shiir (oodweyne habar yoonis shiir) while the sitting president of the country and secondly swearing an oath on the quran to lead Somaliland and then joining Aideed in Xamar.
Egal- Legendary politician he is my second choice. He will be remebered for disarming Somalilands tribes and laying the foundation for the Somaliland we see today. The negative aspects of Egals presidency is that he played the different clans against each other and the animosity that these ill judged policies caused still exist in Somaliland today.
Riyale- positives- two democrtic elections and securing of the eastern borders. With Riyale the negatives out wieght the positives, his government was the most corupt government in Somaliland history to the extent that when the new government came in the central bank was 28 million dollars in debt.
