We know good created that program called destiny, since he gave us the freewill also, the question is can we change the direction of our life’s destinygemini_snake wrote:i asked a shaykh this question and he told me that we do have freewill to decide what we do in life, who we marry, whether we do good etc but since allah swt is all-knowing god already knows what you're going to do. you're living this life one second at a time, but allah swt already knows what you will do next and where you will end up. anyway, that's what the shaykh told me and i hope it helped you in some way.

my definition of life is like watching a re-run show or prerecorded game. The outcome is already determined but you, the viewer have no clue. Or better yet, being in the game even though it is a replay.

But you can only learn more by asking questionsThe-Screw wrote:let me first say that these questions of free will/destiny is first of all a sign of weak iman and borderline shirk. you are basically saying that the signs of allah, his creations, his work and his messengers isn't sufficient enough for you to believe in him and his word. SUBHANALLAH! it is recommended that you pray 2 rakah sunnah and glorify ALLAH by reciting the shahada, Allahu Akbar, Subxanallah, Alhamdulilah etc etc.
"The truth is from your Lord, so never be among the doubters."
Someone who just blindly follows something is stupid, no?
I don't think she is doubting...she is just asking how free will and qadr work together

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
these labels of destiny and freewill cause confusion. i can only tell you what the shaykh told me and that is that on the day we were created god already knew everything we were going to do & thus it was written. that is not to say god decided what were going to do, but god already knew every single thing that we would do because allah swt is all-knowing. this is our life and we will be judged on based on our actions, but god already knows how this game will end. so you do have freewill and choice but destiny also exists.Goljano Lion wrote:We know good created that program called destiny, since he gave us the freewill also, the question is can we change the direction of our life’s destinygemini_snake wrote:i asked a shaykh this question and he told me that we do have freewill to decide what we do in life, who we marry, whether we do good etc but since allah swt is all-knowing god already knows what you're going to do. you're living this life one second at a time, but allah swt already knows what you will do next and where you will end up. anyway, that's what the shaykh told me and i hope it helped you in some way.

In conclusion, free will iyo qadr can co-exist

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
This a very interesting Debate and unlike THE-SCREW who believes everything leads to shirk and apostacy, it is not a bad question to answer, but it has been asked by every generation of humanity in our deen. It has led to much kuffr, and people going astray. From what I have read of the great ulema, many a person has delved into this only to stray from the true path and go into disbelief, so beware and be content with enough to satisfy your needs and don't be a slave to whispering of shaytaan.
This is also the reason that people learn their Aqida, which answers all these questions. So People go and learn your Asha'ri aqida and it will help make sense of everything for you Insha'Allah.
In short there is such a thing as free will, and there is such a thing as Qadr. If you look back at your life, every moment of everyday was already predestined for you (past), and it was your destiny to read this at the very moment you are reading it (present), though you did not know it, at the same time this also works if you look at this regarding the future (future). Just like you can't change the Past, it is the same for the future. The pen has stopped writing, and the ink has dried (Loh and Mahfuz). When you are in the womb an angel writes down the span of your life, and your risq (sustenance) but this can change depending on how righteous you are (don't quote me on this), again whatever happens at the end was all meant to happen. And if you are murdered then this cuts away the portion of your life span, which is an injustice.
As we live our lives we are not aware of what is to come, our future. As events unfold in front of us we have a choice in how to react to them, to be rash, to be patient, to trust in Allah. We have no control over how things will end up because La Hawla Wala Quwata Illah'Billah (there is no power or Might except with allah) and everything happens with the permission of Allah. Allah's many sifats (attributes) is Irahdah (divine will) so nothing can happen that he doesn't allow to happen. So when we sin which is disobedience, we are doing something that is against Allah's will, but nevertheless he allows it to be, and this is where free will comes in to be.
Allah is Caliim the all-knowing and his knowledge encompasses everything, he knew you and your end before he created anything, and he knows exactly how many will enter the Jannah and how man will enter the hell-fire. All those who enter Jannah do so through his mercy, and those who enter Jahanam because of his Justice and their own disobedience.
This is a basic explanation of my limited understanding that could have all kinds of misunderstandings and in correct explanations. Don't take my word for it because I myself need to study my aqida, and will do so Insha'Allah with my teacher.

Did you say it is predetermined but changeable? This is new to me. I thought it is predefined and you are given the ropes for better ending.Perfect_Order wrote:When you are in the womb an angel writes down the span of your life, and your risq (sustenance) but this can change depending on how righteous you are (don't quote me on this), again whatever happens at the end was all meant to happen. One Muslim scholar who may or may not be right about this once gave me an answer that I could not digest till today. He said God created you and gave you the right tools to survive here on earth and prepare yourself for hereafter. He said Allah SW will not interfere with this world's day to day business normally until the judgment day. My question to him was about the little kids who get physically and sexually assaulted when they have no power to stop their aggressors. He said this world is what it is and what people made it to be (our actions), therefore, don't expect every victimized soul to be saved by God. Yes, there's a divine intervention but not always. He argued we have been thrown to this planet with instructional manuals (holly books) and our fate depends solely on us. In other words you can cheat death by jumping away from the path of a fast moving train.

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
Waryaa read closely what I said, that is not your destiney, but when you in the womb, an angel writes how long your life span will be, how much sustenance you will get, if you are going to have a happy or sad disposition. Yet, there are ways to increase your life span, and to increase your risq according to the sunnah. This doesn't have to do with destiny.
Hey what that guy told you is close to Mu'tizilite beliefs, which isn't the orthodox sunni belief. Don't listen to that shaykh, he will only confuse with what other shaykhs have said.

They are khwarij who fought against Caliph Ali ra, and they split from the main muslims. If you ever hear about at the people who if you were muslim but not the them, they would kill you because they say you have apostized, but a christian or jew would be free to go through their lands because they hoped they would be muslims. They are what people say are the predecessors of Alshabab.
