One of the best books you can read this summer!

Post by HalfBked »

Its more than just a book, its a radical revolution to change your life, an in-depth analysis of what we consume and what it does to our body, a lifestyle, a conscientious awakening. Whatever you wanna call it, its guaranteed to be one of the best books you'll ever read. Half-way in to mine and still at a loss for words @ what we've come to accept as being normal in terms of food intake. Written by a cardiologist who writes from his own personal perils and over-coming.

Amazon has it on sale, get yours today!

Dr. Junger just repeats what many before him have been saying for decades i.e. processed foods and toxins from these foods are linked to everything from cancer, to heart disease, autoimmune disorders and even depression. Its a case of 1+1=2. You are what you eat and if you don't change it, you'll end up paying for it. Organic is the way to go, which is how its been for thousands of years before hormones and steroids, along with preservatives and mongo-sodium glutamate, transfats, high salt, high fat, corn syrup, etc were introduced in to our diet by the manufacturers.

Halaal, organic chicken & beef; we should demand our meat be organic too, not just halaal.

So true. Ideally, you have space for your own garden to grow organic veggies. And if you can find free-range meat, all the better.

O.O

You're welcome. Book also calls for a 3 week liquid ONLY diet whereby you'll be blending organic fruit and veggies.

Purpose is to cleanse the body of all toxins and allow natural homeostatis.

There was a time sliced white bread was all the rage, now its hand ground & all natural.

O - You just stock-up and prepare in advance. Maybe mix a bunch of stuff for a whole week and store it away. Pricey and time consuming, but people swear by it including a professor of mine who dropped 23 lbs for those weeks and she looked incredible, even her skin glowed. She said she was sleeping better than she ever did too and rarely caught any colds or flu. Do it for a week before you quit. The whole expeirence is bound to leave you more informed and concious of what you put in to your body.

Mike

There are a few share-crop organic & halaal chicken farms, mostly in the Northeast, I know of one that package ships its products in upstate NY. Organic milk and eggs alone are far superior in taste to the other stuff, that's all I buy for a while now. Full of omega-3's and natural fatty acids. Regular milk doesn't come close. Its worth the added $$, 1/2 gallon Stoneyfield whole or even 2% milk is around $3.89 at most retailers, whereas a dozen of free-range, grain fed, organic eggs are around $3.75 at retailers. Compared to $2.19 for 1/2 gallon regular milk and $1.49 for the eggs. Chum change for your health and well-being.

Yeah, I buy free range eggs, and try for organic fruits and veggies, though unpasteurized cow's milk is "illegal" in Ontario. I only buy xalaal meat and poultry, but there's still no guarantee it's free range. WAYYY better for ya, and well worth the effort.

Unpasteurized milk and cheese is illegal here too. That's why we never get to enjoy some great French and Swiss cheeses. FDA regulations and government bureaucracy. As long as the cow is fed grain and no steriods & growth hormones are involved, its good to go, pasteurized and all. Unpasteurized cow's milk is ridden with mocrobials that can land you in the hospital, I only know of camel's milk that can be consumed fresh & without pasteurization. Stoneyfield out of Vermont make great dairy organic products, affordable too. Fish over meats in general.
