I am going to Mogadishu, Gedo, NFD, to help famine victims

I signed up at Danish Red Cross one week ago to help the famine victims, the organization has the food and the money, but lack somali/danish speaking people who can work in ,Mogadishu, Gedo, the camps in the somali region in northern Kenya, I told them I am ready I am going to coordinate some of the help I am going to Mogadishu on monday some of my oncels who have just arrived from Kismayo will wait for me at Mogadishu airport I'm afraid to die, but would also like to help the starving children and women I am going to visit our houses and Mogadishu for the first time since 1991 I will be away 1 month and 2 weeks Pray for me
I will be updating you guys by writing emails to my sister which then will post them on Somalinet.

Gedo doesn't have famine and the effect of drought is being mitigated by access to international aid. 80% of Gedo has been liberated from Al Shabaab and even the Al Shabaab leaders in Baardheere have been allowing foreign aid a long time ago.

Food aid distributed in rebel-run Somalia

NAIROBI — The International Committee of the Red Cross said Sunday it had distributed 400 tonnes of food aid in rebel-controlled southern Somalia, which has been hit by a devastating drought.

"The ICRC on Saturday distributed 400 tonnes of food aid in Gedo province for 4,000 families or about 24,000 people," ICRC spokesman Yves Van Loo told AFP in Nairobi.

"The distribution look place in the Bardera district and passed without incident, with the knowledge of the authorities and the recipients," he added.

It is the first ICRC-led food drop directly to locals in zones under the control of the Shebab insurgents since 2009, the spokesman added.

Each family was due to get about 100 kilogrames of food, including 20 litres of oil, more than 20 kilos of rice, and beans.

Further food distributions of the same kind will take place in the coming days, the spokesman said.

The famine is in Bakool, Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Afgooye corridor, and Mogadishu.

Famine is now present. The three areas are the Afgoye corridor IDP settlement, the Mogadishu IDP community, in all seven districts of the city, and in the Balaad and Adale districts of Middle Shabelle', on Wednesday said Grainne Moloney, head of the UN Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit for Somalia.

Last month, the UN declared famine in the southern Bakool and Lower Shabelle regions of southern Somalia due to the prolonged drought in the Horn of Africa region
