when does TFG mandate expire? expectations met?

Post by Alchemist »

When does it expire?

Most of us hoped after a year or two warlords would slowly be taken out of major government positions. I have to say this has happened for the most part. What is your overall rating for your government?

Vice-versa. Warlords have taken intellectuals out of the government. Parliament speaker having PM-power,president travelling as foreign minister and same time acting as finance minister.

They are corrupt and ineffective, but they aren't "warlords".

All in all, this is the closest to heading towards post-transition Somalia's government will get. I am cautiously optimistic about the future. I agree 100% the phenomenon of warlords seems to have been eradicated from Mogadishu. Corruption and inefficiency are the next two things to be tackled, but taking the teeth out of warlords is perhaps the biggest step in political evolution in Somalia and for that we really have to thank the Islamists.

True, if the islamist didn't take the chance to fight the warlords things would have remained the same. At the time nobody believed a bunch of guys in qamis could actually dare to go against warlords.

No body thought anyone could go up against the warlords period. And when someone not only did but in broad daylight chased them out in disgrace one by one, the cloth of invincibility was totally removed from them only to stand there naked as a baby. They have stood there like that since, unable to reassert any of their dominance even in the non-Islamist TFG which they used to fill to the brink in the past.

Emp-

Even the West who gave this guy he is cover in the hopes he can negotiate with Al Shabaab as a former ICU leader can't wait to get rid of him.

I said one of those 3 will be gone before reelections. I don't know which one, but one of them will be gone.

Currently the mandate will end 2012 August, but we will know for sure during the peace/negotiation conference that will take place in Xamar in September this year.

The sooner the mandate ends the better, we had enough of transitional government. Its time to establish a full-functioning PERMANENT government. The UN just wants us to be in transitional forever, but we will rise and inshallah by next year we will have a permanent government.
