Very interesting discussion indeed. I am from Senegal and let me tell that I believe that all people are the same, whites, blacks, arabs, latinos and I do not hate anybody for who they are, only for what they do.

You said that the somali people are proud people. I myself think that too much pride is like a poison. As muslims, we must remain humble as humbleness is much better and less toxic than pride.

I think somalis have an inferiority complex. That is why they keep saying over and over again how much they hate blacks (even though blacks have done nothing to them, have no hate for them and most africans wish that Somalia would get back on its feets). The problem is that somalis do not want to be seen as blacks. They hate the very notion that they might be black. So the best way for them to reject this is to profess their hate for blacks again and again.

At the end for me, I do not really care whether somalis are blacks, whites or arabs (even though the world views them as blacks). We are human beings and Allah (SWT) made us all different. For those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, they should know that the Prophet (SAW) has said that there is no superiority of any individual to another one except in Taqwa and good deeds.

If somalis want to be viewed as white or arab, I have no problem with that if this is what make you happy. But at the very least, they should have the decency to respect other human beings.
