Arab is term that originally referred to the Bedouin tribes of Arabia, not anyone else. Assyrians/Aramaic speakers and other neighbouring groups never identified as Arabs. In fact some Assyrian groups and Mandaeans still live and survive in modern day Iraq/Syria.
You are choosing and picking things, Sudanese are no more Arab than Egyptians yet one group are often questioned abut how Arab they are because of their colour while Egyptians are never. There is a clear double standard. Also Berbers today in North Africa are a minority. North African former Berber (now "Arabs") identify fully as Arabs.

There is definitely a double standard. The irony is that it's the Sudanese who actually have more haplogroup J paternal lineages, and by a lot. As we both know, Egyptians and especially Berbers are of course mainly haplogroup E1b1b carriers like most Somalis.

The etymology of the word Arab is a moot point. As commonly used, it means people of West Asian appearance. Assyrians are Iraqi Christians. Arabs in other words who are distinguished by Iraqi Muslims only by their religion. Phoenicians were pre-Islamic Syrians. They identified themselves more narrowly by tribe or religion before Islam gave them a collective Arab identity.

Few outsiders can tell apart a Syrian Arab from an Iraqi Arab, or a Saudi Arab from a Jordanian Arab. They're all Mediterranean in appearance. But everybody can tell a Sudanese apart from the rest because they are not Asian.

So called "West Asians" don't even look alike mate. Saudis and Lebanese look very different despite both being West Asians. In fact the original arabs like Saudi Arabians aren't mediterranean in appearance at all. You are being very superficial. What we are talking about is whether Sudanese are any more less Arab than other arabized groups, you seem way off topic.

What "outsiders" can tell is irrelevant. Afaik its very easy to tell a Levantines from a Saudi majority of the time. In any case we are speaking about factual stuff not the opinions of the average laymen down the street, some of which can even confuse a Turk for a Paki.

Fact: Majority of Arabs today are originally Arabized groups
Fact: Sudan was conquered and Arabized
Fact: A number of Sudanese tribes additionally also carry a high percentage of southwest Asian markers
Fact: Sudanese aren't any different from the vast majority of other Arabzised Arabs today apart from skin colour
