Liquid, if you thought this phenomenon was bad in the qurbaha wait till next time you visit back home. The inexplicable tendencies for us Maryooleey to disproportionately favour foreign workers over our own is even far worse here in Somalia.

All major fields of employment are increasingly being occupied by foreigners while cheaper just as qualified natives are constantly overlooked. I am not here talking about professional positions per se, but even the unskilled ones like fuundis in construction are being offered to migrant foreign workers from India and Bangladesh.

I have personally met many qualified a teacher struggling to secure employment simply because schools here refuse to hire them and would rather recruit from Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, etc. @ three to four times the salary. Servers, cooks, and dishwashers in local restaurants are also being imported from Kenya, Uganda, Egypt, among other countries. And the list goes on and on.

This is where a government should step in and set policy for the public sector and major institutions. The problems caused by a lack of central government are really debilitating. It has majorly diminished somali economical and societal improvement.

My cousin and her friends teach about 25 Somali kids between them, so I doubt its not the general census. I would
advice you to find one student and by word of mouth you will find other Somali families calling you. Secondly from what
my cousin tells me, Somali parents will try to take advantage when it comes to money, they will down play your worth by trying to hustle the fee down and even sometimes come with that bs I'm short this week, so treat it as a business.

Don't be dissuaded

I'm sure it's not as bad as your mother is making it out.

If there's a Somali community centre near you maybe you can offer classes there.

Also if you're a uni graduate you can offer lessons to wealthy foreign uni students who need the extra help, or even offer proof reading services.

A Somali poet and playwright has been added to Hennepin County's 10-most-wanted list. Police say the 72-year-old man molested a 10-year-old girl a decade ago, then admitted it over the phone in an attempt to see the girl again.

According to the sheriff's office, Mahamud Abdullahi Isse is still thought to be in the Minneapolis area.

Isse, known to his fans as Sangub, is a poet, playwright and actor known for speaking out on issues of peace, human rights and government corruption.

Isse was charged in January 2006 with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. A Somali-born woman, now in her 20s, told police that Isse molested her at her Minneapolis home in 1995, when she was 10.

The man she called "uncle" occasionally came to visit her guardian, bringing candy and treats, according to a criminal complaint.

Isse also climbed into her bed, fondled her and raped her, the complaint said
.

She moved to Washington state in 1997 but ran into Isse at the Somali Mall in Minneapolis in December 2005; he gave her his phone number and told her he would like to see her again, according to the complaint.

The woman called him and recorded a phone conversation in which he admitted having sex with her when she was a child, the complaint said.

Isse told police the conversation had taken place but it was a joke. He admitted he had fondled her when she was younger, the complaint said.

Isse did not show up for a court date in June.
He is now wanted on a felony bench warrant citing charges of criminal sexual conduct. His bail has been set at $300,000.

He is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 152 pounds, with brown eyes and balding black hair.

Isse is by far the oldest man on the county's most wanted list; the next-oldest offender is less than half his age. A search of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension records for the past 15 years did not disclose any prior convictions for Isse.

People with information can call the sheriff's office Top Ten Most Wanted Tip Line at 612-596-1849. Those providing information leading to Isse's arrest are eligible to receive a reward of up to $3,000.
Oh that's right, that's right....my bad. I forgot that we are: a) Somali and b) Muslim, which means we have higher akhlaaq, and better morality than cadaan beoble.

this is sad but very true. A person speaking English, Arabic or even Swahili is more like to get a job than a fully qualified only Somali speaking individual in Somalia/Somaliland. :meles:
