Some empires/kingdoms:

    Benin.
    Ashanti.
    Songhai (biggest empire in Africa)
    Ghana.
    Buganda.
    The Zulu.
    etc...
All these empires, and yet no written language. Was there any reason they didn't need to develop an indigenous writing scipt?

Let's not forget that only few societies developed script writing. Somalis never had indigenous scripts. same with the North Europeans. They copied latin which was used by the Romans. Look at Iran. It uses Arabic script upto now but does that mean it's any less ? no! because Iran has a lot of history and culture.

Also, The Europeans needed to justify their invasion of Africa so they brainwashed their people into thinking that Africans were savages that needed Christianity. They wouldn't want people to know that these "savages" were capable of building all these empires and kingdoms. They found the ruins of Zimbabwe and they pulled some bullshit out of their ass like "The Romans must have occupied the lands before the blacks came" or something like that but people found out later that Zimbabwe was 100% indigenous to the native people around the area.

The did more petty shit than this, Europeans also destroyed a lot of history to justify their thievery in Africa.

Interesting answer, thank you. I do have have to point out the reason Somalis didn't develop a script is because they were (and are) predominantly pastoraliststs. When it was necessary we used the script of our neighbours, as the Northern Europeans did when they were migrating and settling down in different parts of Europe after the collapse of the Roman Empire.

I said I was ignorant and I wanted to learn more about our bantu cousins
well you can't blame us.. this post looks very much like one of those "why are Bantus so primitive" posts I see all over the internet not just here.

Also, why don't you just go to Black history sites or Wikipedia or Afrocentric YouTube to find out more about their history instead of asking this here in Somalinet with their superiority complex and anti-bantuism lmao
Well said another bait thread

Yes, our African brothers have had history but it's not shown publicity enough today because of colonialism.

very true. Only 4 writing ancient scripts were officially recorded to have originated in Africa though there are more but unrecorded due European suppression of African history.
  • - The script used by the Ancient Egyptian and neighboring areas of influence.
    - The Ge'ez script used by the Ethiopians upto now.
    - The Tifinagh script used by the Berbers.
    - The Nsibidi script used by South Nigeria.
These script were used by neighboring kingdoms too so there was no need to make up a new script out of no where

Also the Shona people who built Zimbabwe must have used a certain script of writing because people who could who have trade links with freaking China must have some form of writing system. Shows how much colonialism tried to erase African history.

The only part of the world that has many different scripts is East Asia and the reason East Asians have a lot writing scripts is because they were like us. Scripts like the Osmanya script were a mix of Ge'ez and Arabic. The Asians did similar things. I don't know if Mandarin was the original and the Japanese and Koreans copied it but the scripts borrowed from each other.

The Mayans had their own shit too and many neighboring civilizations copied it.

point is original script is rare
