Kenya has been great for Marehan. I don't have any relatives left in Somalia except for my maternal grandpa's kids from the 90's. 2 boys and girl. They lived in Beled-Xaawo, but went to school in Mandera. They speak better English than I did at their age even though they lived in Gedo.

All Beled-Xaawo kids go to school in Mandera. One young abti is in Turkey now where he is getting his computer science degree, the other one is doing law.

That's how more educated Gedo kids were than any other part of Somalia because of their access to Kenya schools, especially Beled-Xaawo kids to Mandera schools.

Stupid Al Shabaab. Even so Kenya border towns heavily rely on the diaspora dollars to Gedo so I doubt this fence will impact the relationship. Now everybody has to go through the border crossings which is what they should have been doing.
