Cawar wrote:Warsame, just like any other news organization..you need to know someone from inside..

Just imagine the amount of articles they would be receiving on a weekly basis..
they cant obviously publish them all, so either your story has to have an extra appeal to the editor or you have to know someone.

I really dont think you were selectively targeted.
I am with you on the connection thing but I still dont believe they lack time to review articles. Hiiraan is maintained by dozens. They have a reputation to uphold and I doubt they review hundreds of articles on a weekly basis.

I am gonna see if I can get hold of someone who knows them personally.

Talk to FAH1223. He is on their Editorial board.

Anywayz, you guys came close to the big seat last weekend.
Forget close, it was a sham.

Maslax -> 126 TFG members

Shariif Axmed -> 98 TFG members + 200 of his own ARS group.

This is so true.

But about the articles, every website is selective, you kind of have to know someone like cawar said. I think I can get yours published. Even thou in the cyberworld your name is synonymous with Marexaan.

Both Waagacusub and Dayniile have as much viewers as Hiiraan. I know they are clan oriented and very partial but if you want to get your article published and read by man people, they would be good alternatives to Hiiraan.com. I always found that site to be very partial myself but I can understand why it has a reputation for being neutral since they have many non-somali contributers.

Well it all has to d with how Hiiraan sees itself. The editor of HiiraanOnline is Abdirahaman Aynte the only Somali-language journalist who works directly for a major American news paper who is also now a VOA contributor.

Hiiraan wants to see itself as a moderate, Western-oriented news source and they are strict in trying to post only what they believe is in tune with Western audience. If you notice a lot of their editorials have to do with Al Shabaab or the demonization of al Shabaab.

waagacusub and dayniile may have a comparable amount of viewers as Hiiraanonline, but they obviously target or cater to a less educated, more badow kind of audience compared to what Hiiraan's going for.

In that case, http://www.garoweonline.com is a great alternative, it has a lot of non-Somali contributors as well and is fairly balanced like hiiraan.

Voltage, I know a Somali girl who works directly for the VOA English department.

Starscream, no thanks saaxib but garoweonline is anything apart from balanced.

AbdiWahhab, do you still have contact with the old Kornayl.

sadeboi, my name is not synonmous with Mareexaan. In the future insha'Allah, I plan to focus my writings on historical Somali figures and/or events so ergo I need a wider audience.

Yes, she is my aunt. If you mean a girl whose name starts with an "I" and her dad's name is Barre's uncle's name and her grandfather's name starts with a C hyphenated with a name that starts with an N.
