Ismail Mire was the first Somali postal officer. He run back and forth on his tiny pony delivering intelligence for the terrorist dervish. I don't think that qualifies as a heroic act to warrant a monument.
Ismail Mire was a Somali hero. A great commander and poet.
He certainly deserves a monument erected in his name for all the sacrifices he made for Somalis and the Muslim Ummah.
The dervishes were a force to reckon. The greatest empire the world has ever seen tried and subdue the dervishes in four expeditions but failed. In the end they had to deploy airplanes to defeat the Dervishes.
