Just so I can understand you a lil better walaal, where do you live? From your earlier posts I thought you lived in Africa. But now it seems as though you have at least lived in the United States for some time? Also what is your age? Sorry if this offends you, but you seem to come off like someone who is old. BTW I'm only in my 20s so anyone over 40 is old to me.TheMailMan wrote:Yes I totally understand. Africans can cooperate when it comes to regional issues that affect us both, and we can form trading relationships, but that's it. Africans are not "the same" in the same way Asians aren't the same. You will never see an Indian grouping himself in with a Burmese, even though they share the same continent. You'll never see a Vietnamese person group himself in with a Mongolian or a Kazakh person, even though they're both "Asian"
Africa should be no exception. The problem started when we had African-American professors in the United States (with very little knowledge of Africa at all) promoting this "Africa is One" theory, and they had a very distorted and naive view of the continent, not realizing that the difference between a Somali and a Bantu is vastly greater than the difference between an Italian and a Norwegian.
The Bantus have only arrived in East Africa fairly recently, within the last 1000 years. I agree. What I'm trying to prevent, is a "2nd Bantu expansion" where they absorb Somalia and Ethiopia and "Bantuize" our people, thereby erasing our unique characteristics and making us one of them. I love my people enough to want to preserve them, and I'm proud of my Somali history and what we've achieved. We don't need to group ourselves in with people who aren't even related to us. We can stand on our own, and take care of ourselves. We are Somalis. Let the Bantus stay in their part of Africa. And we Cushites will stay in our part of Africa.
I don't "hate" Madow people abaayo. I hate their culture. I think their culture of "gangsterism" and disrespecting women is a destructive culture. And anytime a Black person such as Charles Barkley or Pharrell Williams tries to criticize this "gangsta culture"....they're immediately labeled as an "Uncle Tom" or as a "coon" by the majority of the African-American people. These people are beyond help. Even when you try to give them constructive advice to change themselves, they ignore it and have the nerve to say "Oh you're just an Uncle Tom sellout! You can't tell me what to do!"......at least when you tell a Somali, "Warya, go do something with your life and make something of yourself"....the Somali will nod his head and silently agree. This isn't "hate"...this is reality. These people don't want to help themselves. They'd rather sit on their ass and complain and blame Whitey all the time. That's why everyone is winning in America except them. Even the Asians and Arabs and Hispanics are making money and prospering, while these Adones sit on their asses and complain and have this "woe is me" attitude.....They don't deserve respect.
I only make these assumptions because your criticism of "madaw culture" is no different than the criticism many older madow have themselves. This "gangsta culture" is not "their culture", its relatively new. It came about in the late 70s/early 80s with the crack cocaine epidemic. I would say its more URBAN YOUTH CULTURE than it is black culture. And its fine to have a problem with it. I don't know any reasonable person who supports gangs or disrespecting of women. I just think its not wise to throw stones if you live in a glass house. Somali culture (especially tribalism) is not much better. At least the only things "gangsta culture" has destroyed is the urban ghetto. Somali culture destroyed an ENTIRE NATION.
