The ubiquity of McDonalds in the global scale comes in handy to economists. Few years ago The Economist magazine came up the nifty idea of using Big Mac prices as way to measure the exchange rate. Despite arbitrage being negligible the predicted rate using Big Mac prices and actual rate were too close to be coincidental.
