I agree with you. No one knows who will go to hell fire and I think on Judgment Day, we will be surprised who will enter paradise and who will be denied, too many people seems so self-assured about entry into Jannah and condemning others. No secrate that I envy them though.
I always like to reason. People should be ability to make their own decision that is why you would never seen me quickly hounding you with cut and past hadiths and fatwas from islamonline.net.
But sorry some of people here- this Mad mac one of them sound like hopeless cases. But again who I am to know where they will end up.
Thanks for the reminders.
Do Muslims have many sects?

Mad Mac,
Some muslims you met may display arrogance and deal with nonmuslims condescendingly but not all muslims do share such traits. Also, any muslim who has basic knowledge of islam or islamic history would know that even the prophet in his day couldn't convince many of his closest relatives to take islam initially. So what you said about all muslims being unable to grasp the "why" is not accurate. Not all muslims misunderstand why someone chooses to remain a nonmuslim. The prophet lacked no wisdom or an answer to a question people around him posed, even if he didn't have one for them when they asked, he told them to come back another time since the prophet relied on God for everything islamic. Islam was no private thoughts eminating from his mind but a message he was to convey to mankind. With that fact, still many decided to not accept islam and give up their misguided practices and the wrong believes about God while he was alive. Your decision is not unique.
What bothers people I think is the constant meaningless debates about islam that serve no purpose. As you said, you made your decision so it should follow logically that you aren't interested in anything islamic. You can not disprove the validity of the islamic message so why waste your time?
As for you having a better perspective, you may be right only if the perspective you speak of is related to nonislamic issue. When it comes to islam though, you remain outside of its realm and can make no reasonable argument against it. It is just futile because it had been tried time and again with no result.
Rebel.
You are welcome.

Gamadid, You reminded me some thing. When I was younger and confused trying different madhabs. Some people where telling me to cut some members of my family off, they are non-muslims. But I had the belief and the trust that Allah will never wrong a soul and that is what I keep in my mind not what my mind tells me or other human beings tell me about certain members in my family. I entrust my family to Allah the One who created them in the first place, He knows what is in their hearts, and the choices they will make. Allah who guides whom He wills in the end as He knows His creation best.
I just wanted to get this out from my chest.

Rebel, what do you mean by different mad-habs? You meant different religions? Excuse me but I am taking a clue from your "nonmuslim" relatives and you having been "confused" and "trying" different things. I assumed you meant to say "different religions" instead of "Mad-habs" because mad-habs are schools of thoughts/jurisprudence based on the Quran and Sunnah(with some weak positions in all of them due to the weak sayings they have used as a source).
Anyway, tata, I am two hours late from Bed. I won't get enough sleep before I start work again, so I better hurry up and sleep while I can

LOL Go sleep buddy. here it's afternoon. I am done my work 2 hours and half ago
I tried different religions and mad-habs too. Some of brothers take so extremly when it comes none muslims relatives and tell you to cut them off if they don't convert Islam right now ..lol. Some will tell you to keep praying for Allah to guide them... I should say different opinions not madhabs ...lol
Nite nite.

This is the inevitable result of someone posting something here about Islam being the salvation for Muslims or Somalis or the World or whatever. If you are having a discussion, and then use Islam in your argument, well obviously someone who doesn't agree with that is going to argue against it. I seldom bring Islam up, others do and I respond to that. That is kind of what a discussion page is all about. You can't make Islam the foundation of an argument and then say criticizing it is off limits.

Re: Do Muslims have many sects?
Muslims have no sects. In Islam, there are two major schools of thought, the Shia and the Sunni. Both have many things in common. They follow the same book - Quran. They follow the same prophet Muhammad (P). Both offer their prayers five time a day. Both fast in the month of Ramadan. They both go for hajj, pilgrimage to Mecca. Those who follow Prophet Muhammad (P), in accordance with his sayings and actions, are called Sunni and those who in addition follow the sayings and views of Ali (Muhammad's son-in- law), as the rightful successor to Prophet Muhammad (P), are called Shia. Shia means a partisan (party of Ali) and it started more as a political party to help Ali in his conflict with his political adversaries. Most Shias live in Iran and Iraq while the rest of the Muslim world is mostly Sunni. Shias comprise about 16-percent of the Muslim population.
