As far as i Know the Jaarso are Dir Somali and live in the Somali region...I'm not sure about Babile but our Rebel group the ONLF is active there, which perhaps signifies the presence of the somali's.

Voltage, first you must decide what does the term Galla mean?
Is it a term that depicsts Oromos?
Or does it merrily describe one being Non-Muslim?
Does "Galla" equal "gal/o" or does it desribe a language?
In the Somali definition it suggest of being not Muslim and that means its a social group not a ethnicity. Like how does the Rendile fit in, could they be called "galla" in the past? OR how about the Yibr of Northen Somaliland.....Are they galla?
In retrospect you also have "Somali" that translates into "Giver of camel Milk". So you have the Galla= heathens and Somalis/Camel milk givers=Muslims. This all fits in what was the Economy of Harar. The Oromo who were once Nomads adopted cultivation thus the name "Qottu", the Somali were the herders and brought the livestock, and the Hararis/aderee were the urbaners and merchants who traded.[quote]
Galla is abbysinian, it had deep negative and racism connotation
Gaal/ Gallo is Somali, it only has one meaning non-muslim
for centuries it only had that one meaning until the european arrived to the african continent. we all know the preference that Europe give Abbysinian in armaments but also they championed the abbysinian view of history. hence forth the oromo would be Galla in every text book and maps. when the British start to document Somali history the notice that the word Gaal kept come up. it is they who maked the Transition from Gaal to Galla and painted Somalia as the original homeland of the Oromo. it is this distorted picture of history that had become our history ask any somali about the history of Somalia and he'll Qoute I.M lewis and some just other british historian. this distorted history is so ingrained that Gaal and Galla is sort of becoming interchangable. it unforgenate, that every site, monument and grave in Somalia is attribute to the oromo contrary to what we know about history that oromo developed in southern ethiopia and the two people only come into contact with each other during the 16th century. the fact is that most Somalis seem indifferent to their history while a few have a profound dislike of our pre-islamic past. to somalis it much easier to accept that our race began a 1000 year ago than to accept that we are the descentant of the the same Gaal that we vilify.

Re: why does there seem to be two maps of Somali Galbeed
My oromo friend! I am Gadabursi and if you are oromo then you know that when my ancestors lived on the coast we decided to expand our lands southwards towards Harrar. From the coast, the gadabursi clans encountered many Oromo peoples and lands, most of our present land in Awdal and in ethiopia, like awbere, shiniile were native oromo settlements i.e Halimlah, Galla geri, Boorama, Darbi kola, Jarohorato, Baabule etc. These are all Galla names and they all have very ancient sites from the time of the Oromo supremacy and Imam Ahmed Gurey. The Issa (ciise) clans also regularly encounter oromo clans near the awashGara Man wrote:This debate going on here is very interesting.
SA,
Are you claiming that the Geri Komboo Daroods really are Oromos? This is something i been known. You might as well add the Dir clans too. While i was digging on info on the net i came across what Transactions of the Bombay Geographical Society, Volume 8 By Bombay Geographical Society where it says in a statement regarding the DIR that "THE GALLA CLANS OF ESA SOMALI and GIDRBURSI" and then later says the the issa and gedrbursi have "several peculiarities that mark their Galla orgin." If this is true that would mean the most clearest of western Somlais the Dir are Oroomo. The text says Nothing about Akicho, nothing about Gurguraa, and nothing about Jaarso.
Gursum/FunyanBiro is land that is rightfully belonging to Oromos. This really funny readying that Gursum you said belongs to Somalis while just a couple days ago watching EtV's somali program talking about development education in gursum. The really funny part that the Oromo program was talking about gursum just a week ago and about the same development but in the farming sector. The Tplf is really working are two respective communities bad.
Also in Ibrahim Yusuf's article titled 'Can the Young Despots in Somali Regional State Reconcile With the Diaspora Communities', he states that "The appropriation of many districts to ORS(Oromo Regional State) including Babile, Fayanbiro, Arjisagora(????),
Jinacsani(whose Wikipedia page has suddenly disappeared over the past year and some for some reason)and Ma’ayso made many intellectuals more apprehensive about the EPRDF’s policies toward Somali people". By reading this he should know that the man is trying claim land that is the Jaarsos backyard except Miesso. Any decision that happened over rights of lands is the decision upon the jaarsos themselves. If they decidce Oromo it is oromo, and if it is Somali then its somali.

Re: why does there seem to be two maps of Somali Galbeed
I know its been a while since you wrote this but what are you talking about? Nooles abtirsi does not go to this Aw-Qudub. 3 of my grandparents are of the three different subs in the noole clan and dont go to this person.Voltage wrote:Jaarso, Akiisho, and the Noolee Oromo are all the dispersed remnants of Imam Ahmed's Somali army. They are pure Somali who just happened to become bilingual. Ask a Noolee from Harrar what he is, he will say "Oromo", ask him his abtirsi and he goes to Shiiqaal Aw-Qudub or something else Somali. Daba gal bay ubaahanyihiin dadkaas.
Even their genealogy is the name of their regions. "Baabile Barantuma". Babile their region became their tribe's name after being dispersed because that's where they congregated to each other.
Noole - Halele eldest
Noole - Warra Mahammed(Mammaa before islam)
Warra Usmaan
Wheres the somali in us? The Afran Qallo Are pure Oromo, you have no proof of us especially the Noole and Jaarso of having Somali ancestry.
Ala, Oborra, Babille, Dagga -- Noole and Jaarso..........WE ARE PURE OROMO JUST LIKE THE BORANS and pretty much the majority of the nation.
I'm not hating or anything but unless you have proof don't claim wrong facts.
Salam.
