If ethiopia splits apart we are taking back the hawd region, it was illegal transfer to begin with from the start.

Sahan,

You haven't provided anything of any size or kind. It's clear between us who lacks the basic knowledge about the region.

You disagreed with this statement:
SahanGalbeed wrote:
The british feared the Ethiopians would occupy Hargeisa ?
You're either high or your love for everything Ethiopian is dangerously clouding your grasp on your knowledge of the locals.
But have not explained why, how nor have you provided anything to back your protest. I welcome your protest because it's another chance for me to educate another brother who has been busy studying about tribes than facts.

The letter as I have provided proves something and that is there was a threat from the Abyssinians. The letter is not a love letter from Abyssinia's Romeo to HA's Juliet. It is a letter from Ras Makonnen urging Madar and his supporters to declare loyal to Abyssinia or face the music like the Ogaden.

The Abyssinians wanted to obtain the entire Horn and SL was no different than Ogaden for them. The only thing that kept them at bay from SL was the British. The Italians did the same in Somalia.

Of course Madar panicked and thus he informed his protector-----British officer hence "British Somaliland PROTECTORATE".

It is then and there that they expressed their concern for the safety of Madar both from the surging Dervishes who already overran Burao and the Abyssinians who already took land bigger than Somaliland (Haud and Ogaden).

British demanded that they stay away from SL or face the British army. The Abyssinians were terrified of the British because just 20 decades ago the British forces defeated Emperor Tewodros in the battle of Magdala.

The Abyssinians sent missions to the British offering peace talks. That included official demarcation of borders between Abyssinia and SL. If today you look at the map between Ethiopia and SL----it is official border but if you look at the border between Somalia and Ethiopia, it is called Provisional Administrative Line. That is because Italy and Abyssinia never had the talks SL and the Abyssinians did.
A Provisional Administrative Line is a de facto border between two countries. Examples include part of the border between Ethiopia and Somalia, and the partition between Serbia and the disputed territory of Kosovo.
The conferences were several including the one held in Tana shores between Menelik and Rennel Rodd (British Somaliland). The peace talks followed after Abyssinia defeated Italy in Adwa. The French (represented by Leonce Lagarde) were there too and thus officially marked the border between Abyssinia and Djibouti (it is also today official).

The talks continued for several more years until Haile Selassie was crowned in the 1930s.

Instead of chasing things to boost your tribal ego, I recommend you learn the authentic history of the region.

Yes indeed I still recommend those books for anyone interesting to find out more details. I do like to help but regretfully they are not in my possession at the moment and as you know its public holidays. If anyone still needs them happy to help after New Year once libraries re-open.

I'm not here to go tit-fot-tat with clueless kids but to answer the question which Hararboy asked and I like anyone that runs to this topic for future reference to consider those details/books.

In conclusion yes indeed the Abyssinians did want to capture Somaliland especially Hargeisa but they could not risk assaulting while the full British Empire was watching. The dust eventually settled with time.

Anytime you need education on the region, don't be afraid to invite me.

To avoid another case of South Sudan, that would be smart move.
Horta wax macquul ah ku hadal, if shiniile joins djibouti and haud joins somaliland, awdal, khatuumo and maakhir/warsangeli lands should join Somalia, hadii kale aad leedahay ''britishka ayaa xuduuda sameeyey'' dee anaguna british ayaa noo sameeyey, teeda kale hawd adiga kali ah ma degnid, waxaa kula dagan darood iyo dir/gaadsan.

Lol..You guys are insane, You know how much the Habeshas want to claim their former Aksumite territories, and that includes Somaliland. They feel like they coud only be great once they have all their former ancient territories. This has been their mentality since Tewedros II united the Habeshas. Thats why for hundreds of years theyve been trying to claim Hararge and Eritrea. Its been entrenched in their minds since they were young when they used to read stories about their ancestors. I would call it branwashing, I could see why they fought so hard to keep Eritrea and pretty much bunkrupted the country. And theyre still scheming to take Eritrea with the US help.

Unlike Tigrayans, Amharas seem to have this mentality the most. And if there was a regional war, do you really ,think Somaliland, a population of 4 million with a poorly trained army and no international friends would ever take on tens of millions of Habeshas who think its their god given right to reestablish their former empire. Amharas are hungry people who have no respect for other cultures and they have entitlement issues, and they feel like if they controlled the country, they could easily unite Eritrea and Somaliland with Ethiopia and restore Amhara pride. Tigrayans are smaller ethnic group who know their limits and atleast seem to have respect for Somalilanders. Your people better hope in these hypothetical civil wars, its the Oromos who come on top and not the Amharas because if they did restore the Amhara regime, they would try their best to take coastal countries that was once apart of Aksum. Tigrayan rule as much as we despise them, is the better of three evils.

This is Abyssinia map that amharat only run before the 1900s. You calling them superpower or something? They barely run anything.

Why do you think Solomonic dynasty refer themselves as an island surrounded by muslims and pagans?

Akxumite is part of Ethiopia today.. .

Back then no one had functional state or armies because of European colonization. SL, Somalia and Djibouti was under colonization. Italy and britain left Eritrea with no government or no army in the 1940s hence it was easily annexed by amharat but everyone has a government and a force now that can deter neighbors from occupying.

Lay off with the fear monger. :pac:

In your dreams...

Somaliland, Djibouti, K5 and Somalia were never under any habashi empire. Stop making up history. In fact, apart from a small section of northern Ethiopia and Eritrea, the habashis never ruled anything. Please stop making up fake history.

It was indeed true that Djibouti and Somaliland was part of Axumite [Tigrean] empire. They ruled Yemen so that was obvious how close Aden is to Berbera.

Somalia/K5 I believe was too far, barren land, uninhabited and no importance for them.
