A Mareexaan sarkaal working for the King's African Rifles

Post by Warsame101 »

Who is this guy? He was stationed in Kenya in the 1900's and commanded 900 Mareexaan soldiers.

Charles Chenevix, the traveler and observer, writes in his book 'The Desert's Dusty Face':

"A warrior of immense distinction was Effendi Farah Rageh, who, as a Somali sergeant in independent command of a force of sixty mounted infantry and nine hundred Marehan irregulars, had won the D.C.M in 1916."

Note: D.C.M is some awards show for the King's African Rifles troops.

Laughing He was not part of the King's Rifles. Apparantly, he took a course from them and that was in the 40's.

Reer Kooshin = Darawiish Very Happy

Qansa, is up to his usual work. Isku dhex qujayn. War halkaan reer Kooshin wax ka sheegey baantuuyaho laysaanka ah. Laughing

Warsame, he could have been reer Siyaad I dont know. One of the things that most surprised me is this reer Cabdille Siyaad who is close to my dad was born in MOOYAALE. Shocked I asked her how she came to be born in Mooyaale and she said her dad enlisted in the British Army and came to be based in Mooyaale. She even told me about three reer Maxamed Siyaad families (of all people) that even lived in Mooyaale at that time who were also British soldiers Mudug laga keenay.

So anyways sxb Aabe Siyaad really was part of King's Rifles, my dad told me long time ago. Mareexaans used to enlist in colonial armies later in the 40's and 50's, ma hadaa idin kugu cusub? Surprised
