TO MY SOMALI BROTHERS!
please brothers read this, keeping in mind we love you very much!
Description: Assalaamu Caleykum- a simple greeting of peace,
But not one that i say to you, when we cross in the streets,
See I'm that xalimo that frowns at you when u smile at her,
The one that makes you wonder what you ever did to her?
Why She won't talk to you, but she'll talk to the white man,
Even though u Somali, you just can't understand,
So you walk away, cigarette in your hand- looking back,
She doesn't turn around- why she gotta act like that?
Puff after Puff you can't help wondering,
Is she a traitor-Somali skin-but white man loving?
yeah she's just confused,
Another -"white man crazed " -youth,
But Brother let me set you straight,
Its not you that i hate-Its your ill gotten fate,
I can't look you in the face- Cos i see what you are,
My heart breaks for what you could be- A dream that seems so far,
My strong Somali prince, is what i want you to be,
Why can't you see? What your actions do to me?
I had such high hopes for you,
Dreamed of marrying you- giving birth to a baby for you,
But then i see- clear as the light of day,
You can't support yourself- let alone a wife and baby,
Not now anyway- with your "thugged" out way,
So i gotta keep you at bay,
When i frown instead of smiling- know that it's cos I'm scared,
I envision that man you could become- And pray for another day that you'll be spared,
So you may see the error of your ways,
To become the man I've been waiting for all these days,
So I'll wrap myself in my cloaks of chastity,
Because through all these fears- my heart tells me,
One good Somali guy- Is worth a MILLION of the rest,
The hood rats i detest- will grow to be the men i love the best,
See i may talk to the kufaar man-but really i don't care,
I'll watch him do wrong, but my heart is not with him- its there-
With my Strong Somali prince- where it belongs,
Where it beats and breaks- and has done for so long,
My brothers big and small- Please know that i love you so,
I have tried so many times to just let go
But its you my heart aches for,
And when it comes to marriage- its you that i 'll wait for!
P.S: this poem wasnt written by me. another somali sister. i wouldnt like to take a credit for something i havent done. but reading brought tears to my eyes walahi.

I agree. Too much generalizations and exaggeration based on a small pool of men in their city.INCONSPICUOUS wrote:ye whats up with the generalization of all somali men, everyones differentBrav3Heart wrote:nice poem, but thats very ignorant of you to generalize all faraxs
