..but I mean seriously I don't need my organs when I die so why not help people who have a chance to live. I don't know how Islam views this issue but I can't see why it would be against it..I mean you are helping another human being right?

How do feel about organ donation?
So earlier today I was discussing this issue with my mother and told her I was considering to be registered in the organ donor's list and I was surprised by her reaction LOL never thought she will react so strong against it; she was like ' they will take your kaliyo out before you even die'
..but I mean seriously I don't need my organs when I die so why not help people who have a chance to live. I don't know how Islam views this issue but I can't see why it would be against it..I mean you are helping another human being right?

I've been considering signing a donor card. I was once vehemently against it.

As long as they will remain in the clan i don't mind.
Re: How do feel about organ donation?
Well the first thing they do when they put you in an ambulance is check your wallet for ID and sometimes insurance. Then they check weather or not you are a donor. Then they decide is it worth saving you.

I've heard of this as well. They weigh your current status against the value of your organs. I don't know how true that is though. A paramedic's job is to stabilize the patient, and nothing more. Perhaps if we're considering doctors and hospitals, it may be true.mcali wrote:Well the first thing they do when they put you in an ambulance is check your wallet for ID and sometimes insurance. As Muslims we cannot be organ donors. This is because our bodies are our temple. Allah brought us into this earth with all our organs and we shall live this earth and return to him with all our organs/body parts.

I believe that. And a reason never to entertain the idea of carrying a donar card.mcali wrote:Well the first thing they do when they put you in an ambulance is check your wallet for ID and sometimes insurance. Then they check weather or not you are a donor. Then they decide is it worth saving you.

Re: How do feel about organ donation?
True story
I was renewing my health card and they asked if I wanted to donate any of my organs after I die. I said sure and was only interested in giving my kidneys and NOTHING ELSE. Anyways, I marked an X on the box next to kidney. However, I didn't properly read the thing and in fact it said "mark an X on the organ you do NOT wish to donate".
So I basically signed up to donate EVERY SINGLE ORGAN in my body except my kidneys. Eyes, stomach, brain, liver, bladder, lungs. I didn't realize until a month later of what I did. I slowly walked down to city hall making sure no car hits me and kills me and demanded they take me off the donor list. They said "sorry, we can't do that. you have to call the toll free number". I called and they said sorry, we dont do that. You have to write a letter to the ministry of health asking to be taken off the list. It can take months.
I finally got out of it like 6 weeks later. Happiest letter I recieved. "YOU HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF THE DONOR LIST".
ONLY DONATE KIDNEYS, AND USEFUL STUFF. NOT YOUR EYES

Re: How do feel about organ donation?
^That is true, yeah.
My mom snaps each time I donate blood. Only been a few times. But I think I'll do it more often now.
Hospitals need to do what's best for the hospital first, which is why they make you sign a handful of sheets before even sitting down.
