General siad bare a very controversial person among the Somalis let me tell you my opinion in the First 9 years the country was thriving on all fronts Education health security Economy it was a socialist state. But we were still developing his government even introduced some sort of self sufficiency in the country even people had no problem living in a highly centralized state because there was progress and people were living. But the war with Ethiopia for the Somali galbeed region destroyed the economy and corrupted the army and that's when clanism with in the ranks of the government started growing. We ended up living on hand outs from the international community the proud nation once upon a time.But bad policies crippled the entire country but i don't blame him , for Pan Somalism to continue the President was very ambitious in uniting all the Somalis so we had to go to war uniting a nation is not very easy u need to create an enemy at that time the Abyssinians were right there to be invaded. And since they were occupying large parts of Somali territories we went to war.Had he held elections in 1979 he would've gone down in the history books as the best President Somalis ever had any way allah ha u naxariisto Marxuumka he is now with his creator.
