Beam me up Scotty
I'm tired of this commuting to work business. When I'm stuck in traffic my mind runs wild, one of my thoughts today were. ..it's 20 freaken 14 why hasn't the flying car been invented already. I thought I'd be cruising in one by now, by 2014 I thought we would've had a teleporter ..beam me up Scotty ^ and voila u are at your desired destination. Sidaan si mahaan, someone invent a teleporter already! Anyway what piece of technology did you think would be in existence today that isn't?

I thought tvs and self driving cars would be common by now as a kid. I also thought cyber games where you are fully immersed in the game would be common. I never liked the idea of robots tho.

Re: Beam me up Scotty
Cool, how long til this becomes mainstream? I was hoping such advancements would've been made in 2000. I'd be hovering by now.

Within a decade I expect to be driven to work in a self-driving vehicle ordered via something like Uber. Actually owning or driving cars is going to be something for our children's bedtime stories.

Consider whatt what the older folks have seen in their lifetime, then you'll realize that, metaphorically, you have the flying car
When we first became aware of communications, we used to write on paper and post letters, internally, by mail that prolly took two weeks to arrive at its destination. If you wrote overseas, they would onion leaf paper and mail, that also took two weeks to get to their destination. The letters would go to the local post office, from there to the sorting office, then to the mainn post office before being put into mailbags for the receiving main post office, from there to the sorting office and then to the local office. When it went overseas, it went via a sending airport and and receiving airport.
Think about the manual typewriters, to transcribe dictation from a shorthand notes, or a "dictaphone" If you made a typo, you started all over again. If it happened at the bottom of a long page of text, too bad so sad.
And you used carbon paper for copies. Then to make multiple copies youu will have to type on wax sheets that were fed through a Gestetner machine. Think about the first Xerox machine, the first telex machines and when you will be given a "terminal" to use attached to a mainframe computer that stored data on magnetic tapes.
Think about how far we've come from manual typewriters to the iPad and smart phones which are mini computers. You see, maybe the cars aren't flying but our communications certainly are, way beyond what some of the old folks have imagine
Given that a lot of us drivers don't seem to be able to control cars in two dimensions with reasonable skill, I'm actually glad that numpties aren't scooting around above me trying to control a car in three dimensions
Didnt we see flying cars in Bladerunner movie? I am just pissed Terminator said there was supposed to be a nuclear war in 1997
ok i was just trying to me you feel grateful for your toyota camry
