Two men charged with murder in beating death of 60-year-old man

Two men formerly sought by police have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with an assault that left a 60-year-old Toronto man dead last week.

According to police, Jamal Abdinasir Hassan, 22, and Gonffa Krow, 20, surrendered to officers at 23 Division on Sept. 15 for their alleged involvement in a fight that broke out near Dundas St. W. and Mabelle Ave. area on Sept. 11.

When officers arrived at the scene at about 8:30 p.m. last Thursday, they found two men with obvious signs of injury. Both men were rushed to hospital, where Richard Pepper later succumbed to his injuries.

Hassan and Krow have each been charged with second-degree murder and assault causing bodily harm.

Both suspects appeared at Toronto West Courts for a bail hearing and were remanded in custody.
