A woman in a spiked collar surprised shoppers at the Staten Island Mall when she dropped to all fours and played puppy at the end of a man’s dog leash.
The pinked-haired pooch imposter was photographed on Saturday as she calmly crouched in the shopping center, sitting up to beg as her male companion leaned casually against a rail.
Pictures of the doggie duo were an instant hit on social media.
“Welcome to the Staten Island Mall!” wrote Instagram user victorkingnyc.
The public stunt was a new development, but store clerks told the Daily News they two were regulars.
“They’re here all the time,” a Zumiez clothing store employee said. “They’re normal people.”
A worker at Hot Topic recognized the woman as a repeat customer.
“This is the only time I’ve seen the girl with a leash on like that,” clerk Kelsey told the News. “She shops here about once a month. She’s a nice customer.”
The canine couple were photographed talking to mall security in one shot, and video shows the woman outside, dunking her head in a fountain.
A spokesman for General Growth Companies which runs the mall didn’t respond to requests for comment.
