The SNM separatists invented this distinction of Soomaali iyo dad afka Soomaaliga ku hadla in order to justify their secession from Somalia and to treat all other Somalis as foreigners, and is widely used by their reporters .

The Northern Somali journalist Cabdimaalik Coldoon rightly points out that this is a wrong terminology used to separate Somalis and was invented by dad xanuunsan (SNM) and that Somali reporters should be discouraged in using it and instead say Somali people.

This sick mentality is evident among the extreme iiddoor who think they are a separate people from Southern and other Somalis. This is why they would gladly welcome Anderson Cooper and arrest a Southern Somali.
