UK opens training base for SNA
UK opens army training facility for Somali forces

Saturday June 8, 2019
The UK officially opened a training facility in Somalia on Saturday for the Somali National Army (SNA), as the Horn of African country readies to take up security responsibilities.
The British Embassy in Somalia announced that “the new centre will help develop Somali led security forces & promote long term stability and security in the country.”
The training facility is based in Baidoa, the capital of Bay region in Southern Somalia.
Somalia has been dogged by an Islamist insurgency for over a decade, perpetrated by al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabaab. The terror group has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions others.
With an unequipped and untrained security force, the international community moved into Somalia to help in the fight against terrorism. The UK, US and African Union are some of the groups with missions in Somalia.
With gains made in the fight, various security agencies including the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) plan to systematically withdraw the troops from the Horn of African country.
The withdrawal of AMISOM troops is due to start from October, with the force expected to be fully out of the country by December 2020, handing over to the SNA.
Defeating al-Shabaab is a key agenda in President Mohamed Abdullahi’s government, one he has expressed confidence he will achieve.

Oh boy!
How many countries is that now? I've lost count.
Turkey, UK, US, AMISOM and Ethiopia are all involved in Somalia's security, yet alshabab still calls the shots in most areas of the country.
What's going wrong?

Re: UK opens training base for SNA
AS is funded by Mosad and CIA.If the west was genuine about fighting against AS they would have empowered the locals all these activities is just a cover up for them to thwart Chinese threat as well as any genuine Islamic revivial in the region.Mk777 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 12:42 pmAS are like a virus. I do beleive they have a link with AS.
There is a big US military base outside Kismaayo and. In Xalanle and US ships patrol the seas.
They know where AS is their names their backgrounds and their security details yet we are told that they are ghosts .Thats is bolox.
Farmajo needs to invite Putin to Somalia and we will see if AS can survive after a year.
Re: UK opens training base for SNA
As I said sxb these AS are like a cancer so Wherever they see there is a tension under the surface they exploit it. No one supports AS laakin when u have someone using liyu, some the SNA, some Kenya etc people will use whatever they can to protect their interest. Laakin im sure there’s is no one in Somalia who support these khawarij xoolo.
Re: UK opens training base for SNA
Naa sxb I doubt they are directly responsible. It is these carab and our neighbours who have an interest in a weak and unstable Somalia. The only one Who can defeat this qaashin at the end of the dayis a strong unified disciplined SNA not composed of ex mooryaan and tuugo.Django wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 2:14 pmAS is funded by Mosad and CIA.If the west was genuine about fighting against AS they would have empowered the locals all these activities is just a cover up for them to thwart Chinese threat as well as any genuine Islamic revivial in the region.Mk777 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 12:42 pmAS are like a virus. Re: UK opens training base for SNA
The West is not serious about fighting Al Habaab or helping to establish a genuine Somali National Army.
Lately, Britain has been showing interest in the South, especially South West State of Somalia. The US has recently invested millions in upgrading Balli Doogle military airport which is also located in South West. This could be rivalry against Turkey. Absent in the equation is the Somali National Interest.

Far more countries were in Afghanistan for many more years, and the Taliban haven't been defeated.Caytame wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 11:52 am Oh boy!
