Though i dont have a specialised background or knowledge concerning these above mentioned conditions but i will try to explain it to you the way i have interpreted;
1)Depression: Person is said to be depressed when there is a burden on him and he/she lacks the motivation to counteract the difficulties he/she is facing,
and ultimately gives up without a solution WHILE THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND FACES HIM/HER DAILY.
2) stress is little bit similar to depresion but the difference is that in this case the patient DOESN'T GIVE UP and he/she thinks and worries alot about the specific problem while he/she can't solve it because of lack of ability to do so.
3)Paranoic person is the person who is suspects in every thing and he is always negative in his suspicions. I think this condition is also called Schezonpherenia in the psychiatric terminology. this term maybe called BUUFIS in our language.
Lastly i can be wrong in my explanations so corrections and more information from those who know better in this field are honestly welcome, to benefit us and mostly the person who wanted this information.

well i think the problem is we don't realy know,
when we have such a problem.

When we are facing it we normaly do tell our friends about it and it is kind of a relieve.

now you may say what about those who don't have a friend or a family to talk about it.

Then what.... That is when you need a treatment it you can afford it i haven't been to one, but if the problems still accurs it is better to do someting about it.

I took it serious when I read this message,coz its very common in our society,Its unfortunate that one of the respondants said these problems doesnt exist in our community and thats quite
contrary to the truth,its really very,very commong among our ppl specially those who r in western countries.there r a lot of ppl who kill themselves everyday,if u see someone who is depressed try to help him and encourage him to seek treatment.
Let me try to answer ur question,I am not psychiatrist but I am physician.
its not easy to elaborate here,if u hear depression(in psychiatry)in short means:
loss of interest in all usually pleasurable outlets such as food,sex,work,friends,hobbies,or entertainment.
DEPRESSION is mood disorder,when its severe they call major depressive disorder,there are symptoms and signs(CALAAMADAA LAGU GARTO):
1-qofku wuxuu noqdaa sad,empty mind,
2-qofka waxaa ka luma interestkii uu u qabay waxyaalo badan oo uu jeclaa,xiisahooduna uu ku yaraado,sida asxaabtiisii oo uu ka go'o,nolosha oo uu naco,iwm.they call ANHEDONIA.
3-qofka waxaa ka luma appetiteka ama wuu u siyaadaa qofba si.
4-hurdada ayaa qofka ka yaraata ama wey kusiyaadaa.INSOMNIA or HYPERSOMNIA.
5-loss of energy
6-qofku wuxuu noqdaa agitated ama qof aan dhaqdhaqaaq badan rabin.
7-diminished ability to think or concentrate or indecisiveness.
8-feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt
9-recurrent thougths of death and suicidal ideation,wish to be dead or attempted suicide.
markaa waxaasoo dhami qofka waxay ku hogaamisaa in ay affect gareeyso nolosiisa dhinac walba,
xagga shaqadiisa oo xumaata ,xiriirka isaga iyo dadka kale ama reerkiisa,iwm.
haddaba kaasi waa xanuunka layiraah MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER,waxaa jirta in qofku uu noqon karo depressed isagoon xanuunkani hayn,matalan haddii uu dhinto qof uu jecel yahay waxaad noqon depressed laakiin badiyaa waa muddo aan ka badnayn bil,midda kale calaamadaa qaarkood malaha sida suicidal ideation,depressant drugs also can make the person depressed like alcohol,opiates,etc.there are also some medical condisions other than psychiatry which can make the person depressed such as;hypothyroidism,pancreatic cancer,parkinsinism,etc.
