- The US government pays $3.8 - $4 billion annually in a lump sum to the Zionist entity, thus being the main financier to settlement operations.

- Out of 100 US senators, 96 of them supported Law No. 145 of 1995, which stipulates that the US embassy be moved to Jerusalem.

- The same law (145 of 1995) stipulates that the budget of US embassies be cut by 50 percent every year the move to Jerusalem is delayed. This means that the US Congress “punishes” its state department for delaying the move. (Practically, this means the Congress is punishing the state department for the sake of a foreign country, which does not occur elsewhere, at least officially).

- The same law states, “Jerusalem is the spiritual center1 for Jews and of importance2 to followers of other religions”. This reflects clear bias in law 145 and religious discrimination in US foreign policy, which contradicts the US constitution.

- Dr Walid al-Khalidi, secretary general of the Palestinian Studies Institution carried out a study, taking over six years, with the help of a team of 40 researchers. It concluded that the land on which the Zionists and the US administration have agreed to build the embassy in Jerusalem on is mainly an Islamic Waqf3 (endowment) held in the name of Sheikh Mohamed bin Mohamed al-Khalili in 1724. A small part of it is owned by Arab families in Jerusalem and was rented during the British mandate. According to British archives, the British government was paying rent to the families. This land, on which the US administration plans to build its embassy, is a plundered Islamic endowment. Zionists took the land from the Waqf and families in Jerusalem and almost donated it to the US administration for a measly one dollar per month for a renewable period of 99 years, as per agreement!

- It is interesting to note that 78% of settlers in the West Bank and Gaza are European and US Jews, and in the Golan Heights they represent 77% of settlers. (See tables)

Table 1
Number of settlers in the West Bank and Gaza
from 1972 to 1998

Year Number of Settlers in the West Bank and Gaza

1972 1,500

1983 (post-Camp

David treaty in 1979),

Note big jump

in number 23,700

1985 46,000

1989 72,300

1990 87,900

1991 94,100

1992 105,400

1993 116,400

1994 127,300

1995 138,500

1996 143,300

1997 160,100

1998 168,400

- Settlement increased in the Occupied Territories after the Camp David treaty. It is growing steadily since then.

Europe, including Russia, and the US 78%

The Zionist entity 17%

Africa 3%

Asia 2%

The Zionist entity 19%

Africa 3%

Asia 1%

- American researcher Ian Lustic carried out a study in 1965 issued by the American Foreign Affairs Council, which publishes Foreign Affairs magazine. It stated that the rate of those supporting the demolishing of the al-Aqsa mosque and the set-up of the so-called “Solomon’s Temple” was 20% of Jews. This rate has been doubled lately.4

1 Note the definite article in “the Center”.

2 Only “of importance” to Muslims and Christians.

3 Endowed land is the land allotted for the construction of mosques, buildings for educational purposes, and buildings for Muslims, the public or people stipulated in the endowment. Their functions can be hospitals, medical centers or other premises for the benefit of people free of charge.

4 This data and information was broadcast on The Qatar-based Jazira Channel’s ‘Without Borders’ by Dr. Walid al-Khaledi. He is the secretary general of the Palestinian Studies Institution and one of the most prominent researchers on the Jerusalem issue, October 11, 2000.

Look, if it isn't obvious to you guys by now, US foreign policy vis-a-vis Israel isn't going to change. Whether it's right or wrong doesn't matter. The majority of US voters support the state of Israel in principal. The history of the holocaust is going to prevent meaningful change here. Establishing a US embassy in Jerusalum, however, is a good idea IF it is the embassy to both Israel and Palestine, with a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalum. Then we could service both states with one embassy, a cost effective approach. Admitedly, US foreign policy with consideration to Israel is biased, unfair, and probably not very smart. But it ain't going to change. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a conspiracy since it's supported by the electorate.
