Opinion,
Talking about tahajud, last night, one of the sheikhs was going sooo fast that half the times, i didn't finish saying subhana rabialadhiim or a'laa three times! And half the time I didn't even finish the tahiyaat. I was like wooow, whats up with the sheikh. I guess he must have been tired.Poor thing. May Allah bless him.

The main Somali dish? It depends. You know how us Somalis are not a homogenous group. So depending on where you are from, your main dish is different. But, I know one thing all Somalis it, anjera. Do you know what that is Idea? I don't know if u middle eastern Somalis eat that but the stuff is good.

Idea, lol @ Kenyans being weird. My countrymen's main dish is Ugali, ask Common how it tastes, he said he had some.
As for us sijuis, our main dish is rice. Either in Biriani or Pilau form. We also eat Chapati. This is the best dish when served with chicken and fried veges...

Zuhur, I don't know how to make anjera either. But i like it...i think it is one of the best Somali foods. It is traditional too, and I like traditional stuff...like that Indian sari looking thing the women wear...can't remember what it is called. Try making Briani. Do you what that is?

Zuhur tahajud is the night prayer which you pray during the last ten nights of ramadhan, it's encouraged because it's in these nights that laylatul-qadr(the night of power) is, which is better than a thousand months, the prophet(saw) gave us a hint by saying to look for it in the odd nights like 21, 23 etc etc.

SUHUR is pedawn meal and it is recommended(SUNNAH), even if it is slightest. Also, you may drink water if you couldn't find anything to eat. It is best to delay it to just before down. If the last ADAN is called while eating your SUHUR, it is sunnah to continue eating until you are satisfied. the Prophet(saw) while highlighting the importance of the SUHUR, he called it , the blessed food(ghidaa ul mubaarakah)
I usually have a cup of milk for SUHUR.

As for the Tahajjud(the night vigil prayer), I missed the congregation last night and the night before because my wife broke her hand and I had to take care of her and my kids. However, I will insha Allah participate in the Jama,a tonight.

Walalo, did some sijui prick step on your ego or something? Don't worry pal, I don't have that much love for the them either. Infact, I'm Muslim first then Somali and whatever extention that follows the latter (i.e Somali somali, somali sijui, somali Canadian/American/English etc) is essentially meaningless as far as I'm concerned.

As for being religious, I didn't know it can be assessed from someone's background. Thought how close one is to Allah is locked in the inner organ of the humans. Prove me wrong please.

My upbringing? I don't know how you can analyze whether I had a good or bad upbrining from a few posts on Somalinet. whicheverways, I take that as a compliment.

My age? Being a Somali (hope you won't dispute this), I was born under a huge tree somewhere in the desert. So, I have no idea how old I am. May be I should do some carbon dating...I don't know...do u have any suggestions?
Seriously, you say that you know what my age range is. So, why do u need my exact age? You are not attracted to people(sijuis) that have "no moral", "no culture" and no "somaliness" in them, are you?
Anyway, while you are at it, would u like my driver's license number and Social Insurance number too?

Yaa Rabb! Life is interesting.

Idea, thanks sis... I'm really touched. snif snif :-)

Curiosity.

To be honest with you, I can get along with somali kenyans more than I can get along with other somalis. Language barriers exist but that doesn't make them any less somali and muslim. Somalis from somalia have no glory to claim if they have any logic in their minds including myself. We destroyed a whole country and abuse our weak. We do everything hateful to Allah. Tell me speaking somali makes one more pious than one who doesn't speak?. If being somali would bring one any good it would bring to the somali disbelievers you saw time and time again visiting this website and insulting their kind just because they differ. Where I work at, I have to apologize to a lot of disbelievers for what some somalis do to them. Some somalis unerstand nothing but nomadic life even if they are sometimes well read in islam. I don't want to get emotional in talking about somalis and their shortcomings. It doesn't please me, but hurts a lot. You need to apologize to the sister. You hurt her feelings. She is better than thousands of somalis who visit and write disgustful posts to this net.

Common,Idea,Fg, good look'n out guys. Moi do appreciate. Furthermore Idea, thanks for the kind words and advice you sent par e-mail. I'm really touched sis. And no, you are not responsible for this. Sooner or later, someone would have figured out i'm sijui (not that i'm ashamed or anything)...can't even spell abti right...lol. So sisterfriend, i'll smoke you if you entertaint that thought :-)

To all,
During Ramadhan, in one of the nights I attended taraweeh, the imaam gave a short khutbah during the break. It was about following a wrong with a right(?). He used an ayah from the Quran (can't remember the ayah now) that commands this sort of action. He then cited three examples from the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) where he applied this ayah. The first was when the prophet was driven out of Makkah, he went to Taif. The people at taif rejected him too and asked their kids to stone him. While sitting under a tree bleeding, the angel that controls the mountains appeard to him saying, I can crush this town and its inhabitants in btn this moutains for what they did to you if you so desire. The prophet said no and that perhaps their offsprings will believe. The next example was when he was carrying the luggage of this lady (she used to curse, abuse and do all sorts of things to him) while she complained and cursed him. Upon reaching her destination, she inquired about his name. He(peace be upon him said) said he is Muhammad the Prophet (peace be upon him). She accept Islam. The third example was when a bedouin came to him addressing him in a bad way and being rough with him, saying "Muhammad (note he didn't say 'yaa rasululah' as was the norm there)give me from what your lord gave you. Some of the Sahaba were annoyed by this so they tried protecting the prophet and roughing up the bedouin. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told them to stop and gave the man whatever he demanded.

The Prophet peace be upon him listened to, was kind to, and even prayed for people from all walks of life. The dull, the charming, the smart, the not so smart, the beleivers and the unbeleivers. It is in our best interest to emulate him. Besides, it is a great way of doing da'wa.

Curious, I forgive you.

Curious, following on from the Rahmaof TGL I forgive you too... My Moms and her family is from Kenya, so that makes me half sujuu, although my father would go buck wild if he heard me.lol. he thinks i am full somali, even though he leans towards the Arab identity too, cause his Mother is half Morocaan, its okay for him to represent his mothers identiy, but if i did it, i would get "inna hoyo" for a week. My somali i bet is worse than TGL's, but its better to light a candle then to curse the darkness, so you could encourage our somali.
It is reported that who ever hides the faults of a muslim, Allah will hide your faults on the day of judgement, wouldn't you like such a Glorious contract?
(i imagine the following hadeeth / saying is realted to faults and is not bounding on bearing witness, even then there are restictrions, like if someone asks you about someone and says i wanna go in to business with that person, and you had a bad experience with that person, you are required to tell that...but you can't add..ohh and he drinks too. etc). i think.
Any thing good has Come from Allah , anything bad from me or the Shaytaan.

Common.

You shouldn't think knowing less or no somali is any fault at all. What counts is how you communicate with people in any given language you are capable of its mastery. Character is what counts not the language. Whoever is set back by his deeds can never be promoted by his ancestry. The glory of both somali people and their language is thing of the past. It is lost to history. You shouldn't worry about it. I have this Historic Map at my sitting room, I avoid to look at it because of the pain it brings to my heart. I lost both my dignity as a muslim young man and my land for nothing other than what had been done by Somalis. And they are still doing it. There is no angelic somalis to tell you the truth except whom Allah has bestowed his mercy upon.

Somalis have a way of labeling things if you didn't notice before. Even one's religion is measured by his tribe. Can you believe that saxib?. If I am from tribe X, my religion doesn't count. If he is from tribe Z he can't be trusted even though the signs of worship are clearly evident on his face. I am not theorizing this, but it is a the balance we somalis use to judge each other. We devide ourselves down to the nano-affliation untill you are either nothing or a king based on who is making the judgement.

As for you having sijui relations in your family, I say you should be proud of it as much as others are proud of their relations with their families. Don't let yourself victimized by others. I see no fault in you. You rock. I am your big brother here. Let me handle who messes up with you. They can't cheat me, we share the same history so I know what they are hiding and their skeletons in the cupboard.

I don't take pride in talking negatively about somalis. My post (although true) was intended to exact revenge on Curiousity, who somehow forgot where he/she stands as an individual, and who was claiming pride and glory of islam to herself/himself and denying others the same pride and glory because of their inability to speak somali or write it. We should attain the goodness through our deeds but not with our national or territorial background. That is how we should judge people and we should be judged.

The best way is to leave your e-mail so that TLG can tell you her opinion and interests. You should be aware of what is called reverse psychology. You never know how someone would react to you. So, it is better to keep your wins or dissappointments to yourself.

Leave your e-mail and talk to TLG privately. I think that is best for both of you.

She has such a forgiving nature that is hardly to be found. Anyway, I can make things easy for you IF and only IF you deserve her. Before, I go on details are you:
(1) Are you Allah fearing muslim man?
(2) Do you know Quran and take the teaching of our beloved prophet as a guide and implement them in your daily life?
(3) Are you a well educated youngman?
(4) Bring four Allah fearing men that will prove your claims right?

If you pass that simple test...then i can tell you where her family resides...and to show you how sincere i am..i will join your plea for her to kindly consider you.

Aro,

Thanks for your concern (the "I fear for you" part!). And hey, what u mean "that was not really attractive." I don't got it. U wanna spell it out sis... Hey, listen, u know it is like never late to learn, so spell out your total reasoning, alright! Finaly, whaz up with that "if he's not welcomed thing!" I haven't spoken yet.

Idea,

lol,

now that is what I call "a sight of relief." Damn, if u had talked like that first time, I'd have nominated u for Noble Price for Kindly Respone. About that quiz or test, i'm consulting with my advisor and will letch u know the outcome: give me same time to prepare the manuscript and u know, do some proof reading, alright. Damn, it's hard!

FG,

Wow! Hey listen, I think that is good idea and but I wanna do some homework, u know, gather some info before anything else. BUT I'm sincere. One thing though, what is "reverse psychology?" Enlight me. Also, I don't know how TLG will feel if someone just leaves their email.

I'd seriously consider ur suggestion, it sounded like so so right. Anywayz, thankx bro.

TLG,

Can u respond to FG's suggestion, please? I've to have ur permission to do so.

NOW,
what u guys think of the hadith that a woman is chosen on four things
1) Her Nasb= Lineage
2) Her Maal = Wealth
3) Her Jamaal = Beauty
4) Or her Din = values + Akhlaaq + religion + personality + etc

And then the prophet suggests that we marry the one with the sound din aka great values, personality and akhlaaq. My question is, can she combine other attributes with the din one? like say,can u chose some one coz they're religous but also consider say beauty? Or din + Nasb? Or din + wealth? what u think guys.

Thakx.

In no way I thought you were dishonest. I was a little worried about what one might think of your style. That is why I used "reverse psychology" phrase to remind you that sometimes people can write or do something that is intended for the opposite to happen although you didn't mean that. My little reservation was presented through the perception of Arawelo. I think you are very daring guy. That is why I told you to leave your e-mail admirer@serious.com so that TLG could explain things the way she likes it and then you do your INTERROGATION see?. I am glad you saw my post positively.

How about this, Why not wait till something comes along your way (as destiny), Why not steady and strong?. A silver lining can't be far away, and You will get much further if you do what you mean and mean what you say. Believe me saxib, everything is written although human beings are little apprehensive about it. Your chance will come to you walking someday. That is how people get married. Either acquinted at work or at school, or through intermediary or any other way I don't know are all destiny in the making. Prayer is the best. I might be wrong here but that is what I think. We can have Interest in the opposite sex, but how we achieve our goals should be puritanical. I apologize if I wrote something you dislike. I am open to critisizm and will accept it with no proplem. I can throw back always my kicks so don't worry. wasalaamu caleykum.
