GhettoGirl | Thursday, January 11, 2001 - 11:31 am One thing cannot be disputed. Somalia or Somaliland is in Africa, that's for sure and no "uncle sam" can change that. If being in the African continent makes you an African, then I am by all means African. If the Europeans are Europeans because they are in Europe, then I AM AFRICAN. However, and first and foremost, I am Muslim. I don't think any of the ignorants here will understand that. Before I am Somali, before I am African and before anything else, after being a human being, I am Muslim. Thus I will have more in common with my Muslim brothers & sisters. I cannot choose Africans just because we share the same continent over Muslims. Can anyone come out and tell me that for them being an African comes first. No beating around the bush. Straight to the point. I don't think the above statement leaves any room for misunderstanding or misrepresentation. Also, it is very simple to understand. Now if, like me, you believe that being a Muslim comes first, before being an African, then you cannot be arguing with me because your loyalties are with the Muslims and the majority of the Arabs happen to be Muslims. On the otherhand, if you believe that being an African comes first for you before being a Muslim, then please come out and say so, by all means. State your position, otherwise, let's stop this nonsensical debate where you are beating around the bush and not coming to the point. |
