Everytime i see a posting, about tribes.
People get mad or say bad things.Others
rather not be a part of it and keep one saying
we are all somali and stuff. Why do people act
so emotional about it?And why does it has to be
bad?It is not like tribes are forbidden by
the kitaab.....right..?

It is true. People jump and yell and post things when someone mentions or says something bad about their tribe or other tribes, but when some mentions or says something bad about the religion, they do not jump or post anything.

Anonymous Chick:

Allah (swt) says,

"Oh mankind! We have created you from a male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you in the sight of Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa (i.e. one of the mutaquun - pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much)" (Al-Humaraat, ayah 13)

From this, we get:

1) Nations and tribes were made so that we may know one another,
2) The most honourable one is the one that has the most taqwa

Allah didn't say, the most honourable one is the one that is from Darood, Ishaaq, Hawiyeh... etc (nb. I didn't rank in any particular order!). If it is just to know, then there is no harm in saying what tribe you are from, or asking one what tribe they are from. However, in many cases, people use the whole tribe thing to put others down and to brag (pride - the fuel of disbelief!). Look at what happened to Somalia due to tribal warfare. Look at what is happening to Congo now.

These are just MY OWN thoughts about tribes and all that. By the mercy of Allah, my parents never took much care about tribes. It was only at the age of 13 that I found out what tribe I was! The most important thing is to remember the purpose of our creation, i.e. to worship the most High (51:56), and that we all came from one male and female - Adam and Eve, respectively.

Wassalaamu alaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakaatuhu

Thanks stranger and geele

It's not like i adore a tribe for just being
one,but i am very intrested in the hole tribes
thing of somali in general, cuz i feel like thats
the only to understand our history, but i feel
like if anyone brings it up.people resort to
name calling or they don't want the tribes to
exist. Why can't someone explain the tribe thing
in facts?I tried my parents, the could only explain
one tribe.

By the way,the reason why i am posting it on the
islam forums is because in general ppl here r
descent and don't to resort to name calling!

tribe to me is just like race; however, not all tribal names are what Allah created, but Allah created differences in people and people give themselves names to identify themselves. some names are good names; some names are bad and offensive names. some people assigned nobility to themselves and others were assinged indignity by people, but in the sight of Allah, He knows who is the best. many people when talking about tribe they think about tribalism. they think tribe is the problem, because they think it is the one the brings problems. they do not know the difference between tribe and tribalism. to me, tribe is like race and tribalism is like racism. belonging to a tribe does not make a person tribalist in the same way belonging to a race does not make a person racist. tribe does not kill; race does not kill; a knife does not do the cutting; a gun does not do the killing; people do. people kill with guns; people cut things with knives; people hate other people. tribalism and racism are what people need to get rid of, not the tribe or not the race differences. i mean why don't people get rid of race (ethnic differences) because there are race problems in many places of the world. why don't people get rid of guns, because there are many problems guns bring. why don't people get rid of knives since they cause many cuts. if tribe is the problem and people think they can get rid of it, they are kidding to themselves.
