Hi all,

Because Islam is so ingrained in Somali culture. There are probably many Somalis who follow Islam on very different levels. So I want to know why do you follow Islam...in the shortest concise answer you can give. Usually when a religion is cultural or a "state" religion the religion becomes watered down as in countries in Europe and South America or in families where everybody has been the same religion with no deviating.
Do you really like Islam? Do you ever question it? Do you since a closeness to God or that God loves you individually? Do you ever feel that you follow your religion because your parents and ancestors did it. Have you EVER considered other religions.
I'm not here to debate you... just get your answers. Be honest. This is my first and last post under this subject. If you want to talk to me I hang out under the Somali Christian???? posting. Thanks for your candid responses.

"So I want to know why do you follow Islam...in the shortest concise answer you can give."

there is no other way for me but to follow islam. islam is ingrained in me. i know that islam is the right course. i reject all other beliefs. islam tells me to worship ONE god, not three gods in one. if i do not follow islam, i'll be confused; i'll be lost; i'll be following false things; i'll be in lost in the day of judgement.

" Do you really like Islam?"

no, i do not like islam; i love islam.

"Do you ever question it?"

yes, i ask questions about islam, but i have no doubt abot the ONESNESS of Allah. will never question the oneness of Allah; i'll never think God is one in three.

"Do you since a closeness to God or that God loves you individually?"

i hope God loves me.

"Do you ever feel that you follow your religion because your parents and ancestors did it."

because of my parents, i learned islam. i'm glad that i was born in a muslim house. i'm thankful to Allah that he made me a muslim.

"Have you EVER considered other religions."

no, i have not, especially when Allah tells me He will not accept any other religion other than ISLAM.

"I'm not here to debate you... just get your answers. Be honest."

you got it.

"If you want to talk to me I hang out under the Somali Christian????"

i want to talk to you about christianity. tell us about it and answer the same questions you asked. why do you follow christianity? Do you ever question it? why do you worship a god who used to go to the restrooms and used to eat food?

<Because Islam is so ingrained in Somali culture.>

Blessed be the somali culture.

<So I want to know why do you follow Islam...in the shortest concise answer you can give.>.

Islam always had been and is the religion of the people. We are muslims because ALLAH told us to follow people and prophets before US, WHO WORSHIPPED ALLAH ALONE.(WHO IS THE LOSER HERE).

<3.19 The Religion before Allah is Islám (submission to His Will): Nor did the People of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account.>

WE FOLLOW ABARAHAM'S RELIGION who was neither A JEW OR A CHRISTIAN;

<3.67 Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was true in Faith, and bowed his will to Allah's (which is Islám), and he joined not gods with Allah. >

<3.80 Nor would he instruct you to take angels and prophets for Lords and patrons. What! would he bid you to unbelief after you have bowed your will (to Allah in Islám)?>

<3.83 Do they seek for other than the Religion of Allah? - while all creatures in the heavens and on earth have, willing or unwilling, bowed to His Will (accepted Islám), and to Him shall they all be brought back. >.

Muslims are in a better position given they follow exactly what the prophets of god took as a religion. AND THEY DIDN'T WORSHIP "JESUS".

tell him to explain the trinity in a way that requires no further questions being asked. he wil never be able to do it.

what is yhis 'love' that he is talking about when his religion is based upon the murder of an innoccent man.

the innocent die for the guilty. that is hate and not love. your religion is a mystery and myth. according to them jesus was murdred but we see god condeming murder what is that all about.

and we also see in the bible the '3 gods' being sperated by time and space so how can they be one.

and each one has his own will... oh! this can go on forver.

please look in the mirror before you come to us/

You know I don't want to be the turd in the punch bowl here, but I have two observations for you.

a. When I was in Somalia (I lived there for a year) I never saw a single Somali pray. Not one - ever. When I was in Saudi Arabia, man you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting some Saudi guy praying. During Ramadan, everyone was munching away (OK usually Khat, I'll admit) regardless of the time of night or day. I didn't see a whole lot of religious activity.

b. Why is it that whenever you guys argue about Christianity all you seem to talk about is inconsistency in the Bible and the Trinity?? The central tenets are just ignored. You always focuse these two insignificant aspects of the religion. I don't get that.

"When I was in Somalia (I lived there for a year) I never saw a single Somali pray. Not one - ever."

it is true that most muslims do not perform their 5 times prayers, but when you were in somalia, did you see any mosque? did you enter there? i'm sure you would have seen people performing their prayers if you would have entered there. don't tell me you didn't hear the call of the prayers when you were in somalia, the adaan from the masques.

"I didn't see a whole lot of religious activity."

if somalis have had performed their religious duties and followed what the Qur'an orders, including the prayers, somalis would not have been killing each other.

"Why is it that whenever you guys argue about Christianity all you seem to talk about is inconsistency in the Bible and the Trinity??"

whenever some gaal, who happens to be a christian(like runta), comes here and argues about christianity, it is better to point out what he believes, the inconsistency in the bible and the trinity.

"The central tenets are just ignored."

trinity is one of the biggest central tenants of christinty. take away trinity, there would not be christinity. ask runta, mad mac. without trinity, there would not be the son of god, there would not be jesus having God's qualies. without pauls teaching in the bible, the bible would been free from inconsistency.

"You always focuse these two insignificant aspects of the religion. I don't get that."

like i said, it is better to point out what the christian believes, the inconsistency in the bible and the trinity.
