Anna- Slow down honey:-)

It is proven that ONLY Somalis pray "FAJR" morning pray in mosques in all parts of North America and Europe. For this, I very proud to be a Somali.

Also, unlike other nationalities, it is very rear to see a Somali adult who changed his/her name to western one!

One more point - Why are you blaming the Somalis for not following their religion? Plz tell us us more about you, your knowledge in religion and whether you can help those of us who don't follow it properly!

In general somalis are very strong in their religion (Islam). Many people nowdays especially the somali males, have realized if they want to live in the west, they have to practise islam in their daily lives in order to succeed in these diffuculty times of (Ahli-el Clubs societies). I know of somali men who came in western countries in early 70s and most of them had bad experience with alcohol and women and it's really sad to see them as alcoholics, but these is not the case with young men I see today. Why dont you visit Sweden and see the transformation of these young men. but one thing I agree with you is the knowledge in Islam possesed by these young men that is wasted when they isolate themselves at homes instead of trying to pass it to the somali young boys and girls who are born in these countries or came while their were young. Islam is not only wearing of the Hijab or refrain yourself from alcohol, pork, drugs etc. I can see the luck of islamic knowlegde in the younger generations and that worries me alot.
LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT TOGETHER or they will perish.

BROTHER WARSAME I DO AGREE WITH 100%. MOST POEPLE SAY WE DON'T HAVE PEOPLE TO SPEAK OUT ABOUT ISALAMIC ISSUES IN NORTH AMERICA? THAT IS NOT TRUE. I LIVE IN NORTH AMERICA AND I HAVE TO SAY ALAHMUD LILLAH TO SEE SO MANY NON MUSLIMS BECOMING MUSLIMS. IF NO ONE SPOKE ABOUT ISLAM WHAT MAKES U THINK IS MAKING THIS PEOPLE BECOME MUSLIM SISTERS AND BROTHERS? MY QUESTION IS TO THOSE WHO SAY GUYS DON'T FOLLOW THE RELIGION PROPERLY. IF U KNOW BETTER WHY DON'T YOU EDUCATE THEM TO DO THE RIGHT THING MY SISTER? YOU KNOW A TRUE MUSLIM WILL HELP A FELLOW MUSLIM WHEN THEY SEE THE ACT IS NOT DONE CORRECTLY. AS-SALAMU ALAIKUM WARAMATULLAHI WA BARAKATUHU.

ASALAMU CALAYKUM
BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ISLAM
MAY ALLAH(SWT) QUIDES ALL AND PUTS US ON AL-SIRATUL MUSTAQEEM (AMEEN)
MASHALLAH THE SOMALIS TODAY BOTH MEN AND WOMEN ARE TRYING HARD TO PRACTICE THEIR FAITH AND THAT IS THE IMPORTANT POINT HERE.SISTER ANN I THINK U R BEING UNJUST BY POINTING THE FINGER AT OUR BROTHERS, WE AS WOMEN ALSO NEED TO IMPROVE, AFTER ALL THE MOTHER IS THE ONE WHO EDUCATES HER SONS AND DAUGHTER.ALSO WE MUST REMEMBER HADAYA (GUIDANCE) COMES FROM ALLAH(SWT)-HE WHOM ALLAH GUIDES NON CAN MISGUIDE AND HE WHOM ALLAH MISGUIDES NON CAN GUIDE.I AM FROM THE UK AND BY THE GRACE OF ALLAH THERE ARE MANY PRACTICING SOMALI BROTHERS AND SISTER AND ALOT OF US ARE TRYING TO LIVE BY ALLAHS LAWS AND SPREAD THE WORD OF ALLAH(SWT).
BY SPEAK OUT ABOUT ISLAMIC ISSUES LIKE THE BRO ABOVE SAID WE ARE REACHING OUT TO A WIDER CIRCLE OF PEOPLE, SO SISTER IF YOU FEEL OUR SOMALI BROTHERS OR SISTER ARE NOT LIVING BY THEIR FAITH, LETS HELP THEM BY RE-EDUCATING THEM AND NOT BY CRITIZING THEM. AFTER ALL IF U HAVE BETTER KNOWLEDGE THEN THEM IT IS YOUR DUTY TO PASS IT ON.
PRAISE BE TO ALLAH(SWT)FOR LIVING IN THE WEST HAS BEEN A BLESSING FOR ME AND MANY LIKE ME BECAUSE BY LOOKING AROUND US AND SEEING THE GODLESSNESS OF THE PEOPLE AROUND WE HAVE BEEN MADE TO RELISE WHO WE ARE.AND FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET REALISED LET US PRAY THAT ALLAH GUIDES THEM.
I AM 24 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN LIVING IN THE UK FOR 18YRS OF THAT 24. BECAUSE OF THIS MY SOMALI LANGUAGE IS NOT GOOD AND DUE TO THIS MOST OF MY DACWA IS TO THE NON-SOMALIS BUT I DO TRY WITH SOMALIS AS THEY ARE MY PEOPLE AND DACWA STARTS AT HOME. MAY ALLAH(SWT) MAKE OUR TASK EASY FOR US.
MY LAST WORD TO U SIS ANNA IS BE PATIENT AND ENCOURAGE OUR BROTHERS.
WASALAMU CALAYKUM

Maa shaa allaah yaa Asma. It's very encouraging to see someone who grew up in the west and also only 24 years old whom allah guided to the straight path. It's very rare to see people like you, sister.Like you said Allah guides and misguided whomever he wants. usually you'd expect people like you to be busy with their make-ups and boy friends. but allah guides whomever he pleases. May also say that you have a pretty name. Jezaka laahu khayran. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Assalamu Calaikum,
Sister Asma, I agree with you fully. Not only the brothers need improvement, but also the sisters. I'm a youth who has been raised in Canada , and you had at one point the majority of our youths clubbing and so forth. At times, it seems diffucult to practice Islam in N.A., but even amoungst my somalian sisters and brothers. What I'm trying to say is that our somali youths need to be in touch with our deen, because it's Islam only that can differentiate what is wrong and what is right. The only way they can do this is to participate and get involved in the Islamic community at large. Also, School is the best way to give Dawaa. We ask Allah(SAW) for guidance.

Sister and brother forget about agree or disagree with anyone instead focuse on the importance of Islam. Islam is the greatest reliogion that belong to Allah (Suban Watahal) Allah said in his holy book practice Islam and follow as our prophet Mohammed (PBUH) Follows. I am proud of my somalian brother and sister. Whatever they are, they all strong to our reliogion. bro and sis don't forget that there is the day of judgement waiting for us. PLease be strong to Islam the best ways of life and don't ever change to different reliongion since u know that islam is the only correct reliogion in the world. May Allah help ever muslim that live anywhere in the world

dear folks... A salaam a aleikum

All of us are at different stages in relation to our iman and how well we practise our relgion so we may have different views on the exact nature of the question posed by Miss Anna, however what i can say and i think most of you all will agree is that regardless of our actions, we are not to judge our people, because you don't know what is in their soul and what they are experineing. It is very true that many young muslim somali brothers commit evil acts myself included (sometimes) But i myself have become more and more closer to Islam in the past few weeks and have started praying.Yet someone who has known me to or seen me commit this acts will ahve already judged me on them. When Allah is a ll merciful and is very much capable of forviging me.If you focus on the don'ts of Islam and neglect the do's then fewer people will be encouraged to build their faith to a better level.
i do stfeel that the actions of the more learned in Islam sometimes create a barrier to Islam for wayward somali boys. Also the image protrayed by western societies helps to keep young people away from Islam.
i think there are many young people who with the right information would become more receptive to their deen
i wish you all love and Allah protection
Yassin
