The Somali's (& AFAR) are THE most homogenous people of Africa , if not the world. Only Korea & the Basques of Spain can equal us, according to Scientific literature.
Not only do we speak one language but we are all one race, unlike the arabs who speak one language but are many races.
I know we are an ancient Cushitic people speaking an Afro-Asiatic language closely related to Ancient Egyptian ,Berber , Oromo etc but we are definately distinct from all our neighbours.
Culturally we are a secretive, argumentative and untrusting by nature.
If you study most of the postings on this forums you will see that every other conversation involves tribes.
I have never seen a country so obsessed with tribes.
You will not see Arab or Ethiopian websites dedicated to tribes like this.
So it must be an ancient trait of Somalis.
it must be a protective mechanism, an involuntary response which is part and parcel of our culture.
Although we are more homogenous and we dont know where we originate from perhaps there is a clue in the tribalism.
Another words perhaps we kept tribalism so that we know who is related to who i.e we kept our history but not far enough to know where we come from i.e we can't get passed Dir,Hawiya&Darod.
