Dir and Darood are Somali brothers. Historians told us that Dir and Darood had very close relationship based on mutual respect for example in the Darood's side anyone whose mother was Dir was treated as very noble person comparing to the other Somalis......

Darood & Dir have both a blood & cultural relationship that dates back centures if not millenniums. The Daroods as we know it have originated from darood whose wife was "Doonbira direed" whose father was Dir and the result of thier marriage was all the tribes that trace back thier ancestories to Darood. It is also worthy of mentioning that both tribes have enjoyed and prospered a relative peace and co-existence for centures. The question is can these relationships be preserved through these trying times we have already seen some animosity that both tribes have developed towards each other due to the civil war. I as "Dir" by tribe strongly believe yes they can be preserved provided that both tribes develop tolerance to each other and hammer out thier differences in a peacifull manner rather than resorting to violence to solve thier differences. I view Daroods as my fellow brothers and sisters and would like to keep it that way.
