BBC Monitoring Service - United Kingdom ; 21-Sep-2000 12:00:00 am

Text of report by Somaliland's Hargeysa radio on 21st September

Fifty-four teachers donated by the Egyptian government arrived at Hargeysa
airport this morning. The teachers were received by officials of the
ministry of education, led by Isma'il Umar Madar. Hargeysa mayor was also
in the party welcoming the Egyptian teachers.

Ministers of foreign affairs and education, Mahmud Salih Nur Fagareh, and
Ahmad Yusuf Du'aleh, visited Egypt early this year and signed an agreement
under which Egypt pledged to help Somaliland in the fields of education
and health. There are two Egyptian doctors already working with the
ministries of health and animal husbandry.
