Brothers and sister of the Somali nation i greet you in peace.And i pray Allah that he bring us back to our sense.So that we sit back and refect and construct our future in an intellegent way.i have being reading what some of you posted.And it seems that most of you are driven by stessful emotion and the blind suport for your clans.Even raakiya Oomar could not stay away from clan based talks.I can say few positive things about R.Oomar.She is beautiful and the first time i saw her in the televition i admired her.Here is a young Somili girl working as an international newscaster,though what she was saying was against the my interest and the interest of my clan.To me the word Somali meant everything.And was and still is larger than life.But the more time passby the more i drift away from that notion.What does Somali or Somalia mean to me today as a young majerteenian man.And what security do i have in the Makeshift Made-in-arta government.And what hope does it give me or the future of myself,my clan and my future children.As a magerteen,i know that iam under threat and every Somali clan whats wants to see the end of Majerteen frankly speaking.But we somalis we dont like to talk like this and we dont like to openly talk about how we love our clans and dislike those who dont belong to us.So my brothers and sisters lets tell each other the thruth .because hiden feelings cause an imaginable hate and explosive behaviour.and we all know the out come of that behaviour.We all know what happened in Somalia.So now out of frustration we are trying honestly or otherwise to find a quick-fix solution.Some of us like the solution more than others ,be it personal or clan based.But the fact is If Somaliland succeed to break away from the rest of Somali,there would be no Somalia.And the quetion is who would follow.Puntland would be next for sure.Followed by many tinny beak away somili this or that.And what do we achieve.bassically nothing.we will be the nothing.the biggest loosers on the face of the earth.And we will be victim every one and every nation.We will be used and abused in every way immaginable.So how do we save our self from this looming catastrophy.No much options i guese.We love our clans more than we love our beautiful land.We would rather narrow mindedly and selfishly support and defend any make shift government as long as ther is a personal gain for for us and clan,and risk loosing somalia for good.the alternative way to go if we are wise and is to come of the self endused coma,open our mind and think in a broader picture of the Somali nation.And brothers and sisters let us build a just society where the interest of every individual and every clan is met.And let us lay down the foundtion where the strong pillars of the our Laws and rules stand one.Rules that no one could break,swist or turn.Laws that would save guard the weak among us and the srong equally.Laws that would ensure the existance of the Somali nation for a millenium to come in peace and prosperity.If we dont do that let us all prepare for the inevitable doom looming over our heads.May Allah lead us unto the right path,the path of those whom he had favoured,not the pathe of those who aern his anger nor of those who went astry.Amin.Wassalam Aleikum. |

We are all aware of what happened from April 1978 (a coup d'etat) to June 1979. Afer the coup had failed Siyad Barre sent his Red Barrets(duub cas)against the Majeerteen in Mudug Region. The Red Barrets systematically smashed the small reservoirs in the area around Galcaio so as to deny water to the umar Mahamoud Majeerteen sublineages and their herds. In may and June 1979, more than 2000 umar Mahamoud, the Majeerteen sublineage of Colonel Abdillahi yusuf AHMED,died of thirst in the waterless area northeast of Galcaio, Garoowe, and jerribaan.
In Galcaio, members of the the Victory pioneers, the urban militia notorious for harassing civilians, raped large members of Majeerteen Women. In addition, the clan lost an estimated 50,000 camels, 10,000 cattle, and 100,000 sheep and goats.
Sadly that is the tragic History we all know; now lets ask ourselves these questions
1. Who was against the Majeerteen Clan, was it
(a) The Somali people in general or
(b) The Somali Government.
2. Who were the Red Barrets
(a) Non-majeerteen Somalis
(b) All Somalis including majeerteen(like-
Morgan)
3. What did the Majeerteen wanted, was it
(a) Better Somali Government and the
leadership? or
(b) the so colled PUNTLAND
4. Now, who is refusing the Majeerteen to
lead he country?

i can not as a young somali man, descripe my utter amusement, disspointment and disgused on how all of you participants in this debate as a SOMALI people, would rather prefare to influence a young brother who grew up in the west and never witnessed any of the abvoe mentioned atrusaties of the past and who would rather see a strong somali nation (not on clan based idiology) but as national based infistructure.

Thanks for the sympathy. Sincere or insincere, you shed some light on a sad part of our somali history. For the youngesters, who were too young to remember, and for those who need more info on this, please visit Amnesty International's page. You will also find out more about the massacres of our brothers in the North.
Now to get back to your questions, I don't know how any answers given to U will assist you reach a reasonable conclusion. Nevertheless, I will try to answer them accordingly.
1)Of course the dictatorship regime, not the general public.
However, for too long the Somali public were fed into a too much propaganda, and lies against the Majeerteens. The lies and propaganda wars has taken their toll, and as a result so many of our somali brothers and sisters became brain washed. They believed what they were told against the Majertens, and since then, they had a negative image about us. Quite frankly, you sound one of those brain washed victims.
2)The Red Barrets, were special military police force intended to guard the former dictator. They were somalis from all clans, but mainly from his own sub clan, since loyalty and trust were important factors of becoming one of them.
3) None of the above.
This is where I sensed of your sickness. They want justice, they want peace and most of all they want what most somalis want-SOMALI UNITY.
4)Again wrong question to ask. No clan can refuse or give us leadership, nor are we asking for it. Refer to answer 3) .
Although you did not state clearly, between the lines you implied the Majeerteens or Puntland state, is against Somali Unity, for not supporting the outcome of the failed Arta Peace Process. I would lie to you if I said, We support the so-called government of Somalia, because we don't, But, this does not mean we are anti Somali unity. The Somali Unity we want is an inclusive one. Every Somali with a sane head sees the Arta outcome is nothing, but a total incarnation of the dictatorship era. Its led and dominated by none other than the top officials of the tyrannical regime. Still worse, these individual who led the Somalis the doom they are in, are not remorseful, and never spoke out against the brutal crimes you listed in your article. They and whoever supports them should realize that
they are part of the dark history of Somalia, and they will remain so as long as history is recorded. As for the people of Puntland, They will join their somali brothers when the time comes, and they want nothing but a peaceful coexistance from all somalis.

I hereby declare that am one of the minorities in somalia a.k.a MIDGO (yaxar)(as known as OUTCAST).
after reading so many debates and some disgusting, un-intelligent comments I tried to stay away to post some of the comments that I wanted to make.
the reason I am writing this today is to ask those Majeerteen fellow (to whom we shared their land and peacefuly co-existed centuries and centuries). To take stand for their kingdom because without majeerteen in somalia there is no peace or prosperity that will prevail.
CONFESSION:
I confess that in my childhood years I hated Majeerteen in the depth of my soul as I was growing up, I always wanted them dead. all of them. I use to day-dream the day I take the matter in my very own hand and take revenge for the all the misery and humiliation that my people suffered in somali history, shortly after those barberian alien invaded our Land and distroyed our little peaceful kingdom. distroyed our civilized world and then subjected our best and brightest genius among us to serve their technical needs ( since they had no knowledge whatsoever about craft,smith,etc).
After all, they make ridiculous whatever we use to take a pride off, such as new ennovation, techno- wise, it term of iron-smithery and know-how for our survival needs.
Also,
I hated their hypocrisy when it comes Inter-marriage. they always use to take advantage on us, for example: we had the best and most beautiful women in the area, then one of them come without any regards go and marry her, and automatically she is of of them ( majeerteen) and her children are majeerteen considerable higher grade than us. the very same child that our daughter give birth from the same midgan womb.
What was more ridiculous than that is when one of our man fall in love with their woman, they make sure that it never took place, either that man has to be killed by her brothers or exiled from his family. if their woman fall in love with one of us and they can not help,than they will go to the extreme to perform hysterectom on her (to remove the womp)so that she will never bear a midgan child.
Such a drama was too much for my little brain back in the days, up untill recently when the things fall apart in somalia and worst nighmare came in reality when a most Ignorant and sub-human of all mother nature (HabarDigir)get a weapon in their hands and wipe-out my entire race on the face of earth.
Things could have been a lot better and much more smoother if majeerteen had taken charge of habrdigir and keep them in check as they always did in somali history, after all I have no enemity toward any somalis let it be hypocrite majeerteen or sub-human habardigir ( I don`t have a word to discribe their disgusting inhumane).
I think I should rest my case here and see what some of you write in return. |
