I dad was killed by said barre's regime. I hate all tribalism but I don't hate majerten I feel comfortable with both sides. No-majerten never say anything to me. But their women always harass me calling me names such as Hawiye daanyeer aan fool-xume and all that ••••. I think the reason is majerten R not racist but is because they have too many enemies. No-one talks about my dadds side. I am begining to feel lonely at the moment some of my cousins from my dads said called me names. They asked to marry murarsade and never to go back to majerten. I hate that. My Uncles are good to me most of the time. I like my mum very much and i can do that. When i was young this has never happen but qabiil is getting very volatile at the moment. I grew up around my mam's brothers, they were very kindful to me. Even though the civil-war didn't effect our relatioship that much, but again the war separated us . "I love you my dear uncles". | | Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 12:17 pm I am abgaal i was raised by my step father(mother's husband) who is warsangeli, Darood.He is the only man in the world that i call a father. My mother died in 1991, in the civil war.I was only 13 at the time. At that time, some of his relatives told him to leave me with any abgaal family in Kenya, but my father refused that. He brought me to the states with him and he worked very hard to get me out of college. He is from north, iam from south, but his my father and i am his son. Through the years of living with him, I developed a heavy northern accent that you would think i am from erigabo, sanaag. I am very proud of my tribe(abgaal)and my origin. I am also proud of my father and i love him dearly. The funny part is that we are both Harti. I am Harti abgaal and he is Harti, Darood.

| | Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 05:57 am First I would like to start off by thanking Ali for opening this wonderful page. I am a Habar/yoonis man which is Isaaq and my mom is Ogaden which is Darod. Historically our two qabils of Habar-yoonis and Ogaden have always been the closest of neigbors and a shared the same culture, values, land and traditionally intermarried. Ofcoarse there were always sporadic conflicts as it is a part of somali history but we never completely lost our ties. That is until Siad barre started his dirty clan polotics which has caused both sides to suffer dearly. I lost many relatives from my father's side during the Northern war of 88 but I also lost many relatives from my mom side too due to afweyne. I still love both sides dearly and share close bonds and friendship with both families. All I have to say is that all Somali people love eachother and its people like afweyne that divide our people.
