The Equalizer | Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 01:47 pm A/Salaama Caleykum, Like most of you, I'm very happy that an interim government has eventually been established and the name of Somalia will be restored. However, I was wondering what we should do to make it last. In other words, what should we do to avoid the costly mistakes we made in the past. I do have quite a few suggestions and would like to hear from you as well. I think the interim government should allow the media to express themselves freely. So that we'll have a system of checks and balances. I also think that freedom of enterprise should be encouraged with very limited governmental intervention. I would also like to see a Federal government consisting of micro-states that run their day-to-day affairs. For now, I'll rest my case and hope to hear from you soon. |
