First, I did not say I have Issaq friends. I said I have Issaq in my family. In addition, I do not know if you heard or not, but every other tribe in so called Somaliland, has decided not to support the Somaliland government. They realized that Mr. Egal does not care for any Somali, or Somalilander, he is just trying to get rich for him self. Moreover, the so-called Somaliland government claims to be civilized, but were not they the same people that arrested many Somaliland citizens for attending the Djibouti peace conference. Oh and I know Somaliland does not need recognition from me, but they need it from the international community as a whole. I know you are somewhat sad that Somaliland will never come true, but get over it. In the words of Mr. Borama, Somaliland is just a nightmare, that we will all wake up from, and never have dreams like that again. |

first of all i am not isaaq and somaliland is not my place...but i respect somaliland ppl for putting their own government together...when there is a government any where in somalia there is peace...the ppl who live in hargeysa and burco and any where in somaliland live in peace...the only thing we need in somalia right now is peace and then come together...somaliland has done good on the peace part...they brought their ppl together...they made an army for themselves...
what i don't get is who gave the right for these ppl to talk about somaliland...first put together a peaceful little nation like somaliland and then criticize them...
ppl r jealous...that is all i can say...
and if somalia is going to be united it should be like the united states...with every state having its own government...i bet it is not going to be like before where every one built a nice house in xamar and put a little business together there...ppl r going to be living in their original places unlike before...coz xamar is dead now...i don't think it will make any difference if xamar is the capital...
an advice to all somalis:
build your own cities...and don't hate ppl for building their own cities...somalilanders built their own cities |

I am amazed by all the animosity shown by other Somalis towards Somaliland. I know most people who write on these pages are young urchins letting-off steam, but I am getting distinct feeling that the word S/land sends shivers down the spine of many Somalis. To me this does not make sense.
This has been the most economically, socially and politically succesful part of Somalia over the last decade. This should give hope to other Somalis, not cause them anxiety.
If the antagonism stems from S/land's secession, and its rejection of DKMG, then people really need to grow up and see the bigger picture. Somaliland stood alone because there was nothing to join! The central state has been totally destroyed, so what were they expected to be part of? Aideed's South Mogadishu state? Ali Mahdi's north one? or the umpteen other warlords and sundry of minor thugs that carved-up the south, caused an excruciatingly painful (and shameful)famine and brought the nation to its knees?
Under such circumstances, I think it made perfect sense to avoid being sucked into the maelstrom of chaos and barbarity that the South descended into.
Yo cannot blame people for avoiding banditry, looting, rape and Famine can you?
It is equally unreasonable to expect S/land to throw away everything it achieved over the last ten years, simply because an unelected, non-inclusive, tribal-based rag-tag sort of gov't has been established in Djibouti.
Build peace in South first. Establish the rule of law, re-open schools and colleges, protect the minority groups that are still being terrorised by the mooryaan, and for goodness sake move the "parliament" out of those single-star motels, and then let us talk about building a united Somali nation. Before then, it will be unfair and unreasonable to criticize the people of S/land and accuse them of treachery simply because they made a decision to strike out on their own in order to save themselves - and succeeded.

halyey that was the same thing i said in some other page...i don't remember the page now...the new government has to prove alot of things if it wants somaliland and puntland to come under it...so far nothing is happening for them...and u don't expect ppl from somaliland and puntland to leave off every thing they have put together and go under a government that has the lives of its MPs in danger...i believe that all somalians should come together...but when u tell ppl from somaliland and puntland to join this new government it will sound like a joke to them...the new government has to be in control of the whole south, must maintain peace throughout the region and then talk to the ppl in waqooyi galbeed and waqooyi bari about joining them...how will they bring peace to xamar when their life is in danger there...and making xamar their capital was the biggest mistake the new government has done... |
