Saturday, December 30, 2000 - 07:07 pm
An extraordinary day could be described in any way imaginable, but my extraordinary day was on Eid day.I began the day by calling my friend Naiimo who lived a short distance. We were supposed to meet at 10:00 am to go to the market and purchase food for the dinner i was preparing for my parent's guests. These people coming from Saudia Arabia, who i had no particular knowledge of except that they have a son whom is aspiring to study for medicine, here in the united states.I met Naiimo at her door step and we headed for the market.
We bought a variety of food, you know the whole deal, from spinach to lettuce and fish and different brands of refreshments for the discretion of our guests.Mission completed,we declared.
The type of food to be served was decided after a long consideration and thoughtfulness. It was to be a vegetary dish of Mango salad, red fish served with white rice, fried chicken, red soup cuisine de la swiss, and pasta with tender benign meat serve.(lol) Not a meet fan i know .
Dinner was ready after a excruciating stage of sufferings thanks to Naiimo and a couple of my friends who were more grascious than their cashmere imports.I was delighted and relieved.
The guest arrived at 7:00 pm that Eid evening,my mother looked exceptional elegant and my father appeared unusually groomed.Mother showed our guests to the living room,as usual with a a tour down the hall following our white cream colored parlour room. They were apparently a count of four guests. An elder woman and what appeared to be her elder husband, also with them were their children,Anisa and Xassan. The parents were brilliantly dressed and fair looking. But the children?I think they were in their early twenties, but i didnt really care, they were extremely unattractive.Anisa was an unusually short with a peculiar choice of fashion, she was maybe 5 feet tall or less. But Xassan was completely ugly.Granted he was tall and dark, but beastly looking. He had this huge ugly nose that kept my usual intellectual thoughts blocked from just starring at it while we sat at the dinner table. So thats not only it,we were nicely seated at a dinner table of 12 people, including Naiimo and her mom,my favorite instructor Catherine,my brother-Ali,sister-Zahro and the rest were cousins excluding of course out distinguished guests. So do you think the story ends there? No,it doesn't,it continues by a deep loud room of people exchanging boring views of life and philosophy. Then, out of the blue moon,my mom remarks in an outmost audacity. She proposes on a future development relationship between me and you know, the ugly beast.Talk about beauty and the ugly beast? My mom says....."Heres to a new relationship for my sweet daughter basra and Xassan.I completely was in need of devine help at that moment, looking immediately at him, with a one noticeable half front teeth missing smiling right at me.It wasn't an ordinary day,it was something else!Needless to say,i cought an unexpected fever!

BASRA!!! U R WEIRD AND FROM YOUR VIBES AND THE WHOLE THING, I SENSE THAT U R VERY CREATIVE PERSON. SOMALI FAMILIES HAVE WHAT WE CALL SAB IYO GAAGAABEEY.THAT IS FOR GUESTS. THEY DON'T SIT AROUND A TABLE AND PROPOSE OR TOSS!!!
YOUR FAMILY IS DEFINITELY NOT THE TYPICAL SOMALI FAMILY. ABOUT DISSING THE BROTHER, YOU ARE TOO SHOWING YOUR UGLINESS AND POOR JUDGEMENT.
I AM SURE THIS IS A MADE UP STORY AND YOU ARE IN SOMEHOW INFLUENCED BY THIS MAKE BELEIVE MAINSTREAM SOCIETY. GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF AND SMELL THE CAMEL'S MILK SIS. WE ARE SOMALI AND WE AINT LIKE THAT. EVEN THAT IS NOT A TRADITIONAL SOMALI FOOD ( AND FROM YOUR NAME, YOU ARE FROM THE NORTH, WHICH MAKES THINGS EVEN UNBELEIVABLE, SINCE YOU GUYS AINT THAT CIVILISED AND AINT GOOD AT MAKING EXQUISITE DISHES...YOUR TYPICAL DISHES IS RICE AND GOAT MEAT OR SOME LAXOOX)
SISTER GIVE US THE REAL STORY WITH THE REAL SETTINGS AND WHAT HAS HAPPENED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS!!!

Basra?

You're completely and shamelessly ugly.

I see no creativity in you, just self-appointed importance. You obviously live in dreamland, as there is no coherence in your fiction. Pls don't condemn others for their lack of spell-checking, as it's evident that you omitted the use of it yourself. I would help in identifying your mistake but reading 'that' above was painful the first time round.

It would seem you like to hold yourself as a bit of a writer, then be ready for the critics my dear and as a writer be aware that what you lay on the table is what we as the audience will return to you. As is said for computing, garbage in garbage out, in your case.. you tried to scent bull s-h-i-t, but the stench still preludes.

You expose yourself as a fraud, you reek of failure and rejection, your assault on this poor guy has left more mud stick to you than on him, what’s worse is your insult to us by posting such nonsense.

There’s no vision in your writing, no imaginary, nothing. You misuse words and interchange concepts with no thought on impact. Having said this, it’s clear that you’ve wasted much time in appearing clever, I hope that you’re young and can use this as an excuse.

Unfortunately you claim to be Somali and for namesake I suggest that:

1. You take a good look at yourself, if that's at all bearable and decipher what you’re lacking.

2. Learn to distinguish the difference between reality and that, which is in your head. You can use acting classes and even LEARN to write in an attempt to exorcise this desire to confuse the two. Half believing your own lies should not be a considered outlet for your frustrations. There are hospitals full of people who have done this.

3. You don’t undermine out intelligence again. Your persistence compounds your foolishness.

Completely agree with Jamaal ATL, Sagal et al.

Embarrassed for you

Sagi Woman- I have no doubt we have exchanged comments before,it may not have been pleasant but,i think i left you really upset to inspire you to write a speech of critism and insults of this magnitude.
My intentions are not to insult you back but to challenge all the mis-characterisation you have portrayed on me,despite that-i would not hesitate to add a veiled insult to please my respective paragraph.lol
Your comments on my writings and usage of words are -purely hate fueled bias driven.I challenge you to pick the words i misused and let us see who is the maiden of word ring!
As you described, you were more upset by my characterisation of physical appearance of Xassan than the entire writing.I can understand your physicaly impendiments, but i cannot visualize your motives on becoming an advocate for the facial deformity.I merely intended to create a comedic aspect of my story to show a certain angle of humor.I did take account, that i will anger some, but not in these fanatically explicit way.More sorry i am that it had to be one angry reviewer who's feelings were hurt, because of my insensitiveness on her deformity.I am most sorry,if it help to calm your nerves, but if there is any consolation,i believe life is too short for any ill feeling filtrations!
And then.....you acuse me of getting confused of reality and what is not reality? I can understand your rights to your personal opinions and perfectly respect them, but i fail to condone your hypocrisy. The Hypocrisy first of your self declared morals upholding, critisizing my freedom to say what is ugly and what is not, your direct insults to me reflects nothing short the worst immorality. Then, another Hypocrisy of confusing my maybe fictional account of my character's description(Xassan).Did you ever ask yourself, this is probably a fictional based story and maybe i was excising a visional, imaginitive anology? No you didn't- you assumed it was real and i was being snobish and unjustful. Now who's confusing whats real and whats unreal?
Last but not least,i can choose to believe what is real and what is not, your choice should be what is your business and what is not, spare me this despair scorn, and move along to your next project- i am in no mood to share an eveing of tea chat with an oblivious hypocrisy!loooooool

Stop posing under other aliases to collaborate your silliness dear, and plsssssssss go look up hypocrisy.

Insulting?. Yes, it could be view that way but then if you think u can dish it, sweets learn to take also. I see it more as stating the obvious and you my dear are obviously wanting and lacking.

As for being ugly it's in your raising.

No further time wasting on a no-talent, rude, thoughtless, deluded young lassi. When you've reached puberty we'll talk. I'd say live a little more before you try and regurgitate the oxford dictionary and if you do, it's wise to look up the meaning before hand. (Pronunciation wouldn’t be a bad step either). Unfortunately you still come across as a bad case of ‘shipped-over-yesterday’.

give the girl some space people, gosh, she's just trying to share her eed day. there is nothing extra ordinary about somali famelies haveing dinner! if anything her story was a little elaborately written.

however basra, i'm quiet impressed, you can actually cook for visitors? i mean that kind of meal requires a lot of skill, since somalis usually go out of their way on thoses occasions.

your mum's suggestion, lol. you didnt say anything? like "hell no"?

walleed, stop being so harsh, in all your postings i have never seen you write anything remotely friendly.

mad mac lol, an exotic dancer? i think the parents would die of a heart attack.

WHAT A FUNNY STORY, I ACTUALLY ENJOY READING IT. BASRA I NEED TO GIVE YOU ADVACE SIS, EVENTHOUGH, I DON'T YOU BUT YOU HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THE SISTER. ONE THING YOU SHOULD REALIZE IS THAT OUR PARENTS GREW UP THE CULTURE THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CHOSE AT ALL. THEY WERE CHOOSING THIER SOLEMATE BY THIER PARENTS. AND THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM FOR CHOOSING YOU A MAN AS WELL. ONE THING THEY SHOULD REALIZE IS THAT THE WORLD IS CHANGING EVERY DAY AND SO DO WE. WHAT I MEANT THIS IS THAT, WE ARE NOT IN 60'S OR 70'S WE ARE IN 2000, AND YOU CAN'T MAKE DECISION FOR SOMENONE ALSE ANYMORE. I SUGGEST TO YOU TO TALK OVER YOUR PARENTS, AND LET THEM KNOW YOUR FEELINGS, TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED THAT CAOTY UGLY GUY, MAKE THEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE A CHOSE IN LIFE. JUST TAKE EASY WITH THEM AND BE COOL WITH THEM, CAUSE NO MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE, YOUR PARENTS THINK THAT YOU ARE STILL THIER CHILD.
HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT GIRL
PEACE
YOUR CONCERNIGN BRO JOHN JOHN
