Salama...

"Are you going to design Xijaabs?"

I am sure, you certainly won't.

Then, if you think you are going to design those bare through 'naked' clothes by dressing from a room full with naked ladies or males--combined, mostly are homosexuals {lesbians and gays}, then I do think you are wrongly doing something immoral to your faith--I pressume you are a Muslim, if not a practising Muslim.

Rahma!!!!!!!!!!!.........I'm so happy to see someonelse interested in this field.
I'm not stduying fashion right now (i'm doing biology), but my dream is to design and own my own boutique. I'm really interested in fashion, decorating, and style..and I hope to combine all these and pursue my dream.
As a muslim girl growing up in the west and who wears her "xijaab" I don't think the fashion world (not just the west..but everywhere including somalia)takes into consideration the changing needs and desires of the working modern muslim women. I mean the world doesn't allow us to just sit at home and tend to our family and still have a sense of acomplishment..thus the "dirac" will not due at all. Imagine going around minding your business in a dirac?. And the middle east sense of style and fashon is becoming more and more western..with slits a mile long..not to mention too many buttons..and butt clinging curve hugging skirts..that are totally undesirable to the modest modern muslim women. As for western fashion...I'm sorry..but agh...they are going down hill..soon everone considered "fashionable"will be walking buck naked.
So there is where I wanna come in..combine the western sense of color combination with the middle east virtue of modesty..and wala..something elegant and composed.. I mean everytime I go shopping, I'm always confronted with bright hot pink..and too flashy orange. or slits on a decent skirt..or something way too clingy. The modern stylish muslim women is totally ignored in the fashion world!

hahhaha very funny hibo but ya not making sens so please don't bother comment on this topic thanks!!!
any way sis ikraam all i can say is that thats why i am studying fashion to open a shop that people like us eg all muslims sis can go shoping with out worring about how tight a shrit might be or how fitted a skirt might be. my point is that people should think about fashiom for example if ya learn how to design and do a pattern cutting course ya can make ya own clothes and yeah first time they might not be good but hay at lest ya leaning ha? i know lots of somalis who pay about £100-150 or more to have a simple dress made and thats kinda said when they brought the pattern and all the dress maker had to do was sew it together? thats just sad. i am thinking about designing xijaabs that are made with a suit and staff any ways the reason i have chosen this topic is to see what people think about fashion not just the west fashion but also african fashion.
thanks
lov rahma
