I always divide people into two groups. Those who live by what they know to be a lie, and those who live by what they believe, falsely, to be the truth. Pessimistic? YES! Stupidity? NO! No longer do I feel that we, as Somalis, can return to our country as a people who are united by a common cause...no longer do I feel that we as a GROUP can make a difference in a cause that is so near and dear to our hearts. For here I sit, staring into the shadows of a chilly night, waiting for the 8:30 bus; and am I thinking of the basketball game I have tomorrow... am I contemplating the exam I had this morning? NO. Instead, I wonder at what lays ahead for our people. Do we sit under the illumination of a TV set, listening to the monotones of a news caster,hoping someone may someday do something for us? Or do we get off our behinds and do something ourselves? I choose to do something. How about you? Where do you see yourself 2, 3, maybe 6 to 10 years from now? In Somalia???? |
