My Somali people, we need to come together in this new century, and this new land. Forgive me if I offend any Muslims extremists, we need to progress as the Jews are in America. They have come to this new land and have made the best of it. They have built Jewish only recreation centers, Jewish Theaters, Jewish resturants, and many more Entertainment centers meant for Jews. They are also in almost every highly paid profession, whether it is a doctor, lawyer, or CEO of a company. They are there. Now nobody can tell me that it is impossible for Somalis to be like that, cause other minority groups have done it as well. It just simply takes a little adjustment in our life styles. We as a society need to be on each other’s back whenever, one of use is not trying to reach for the ultimate goal, and we need to help our Somali brothers and sisters in need of help. We need to stick together, make our family and neighbor structures stronger then they are. We need to stop taking hand outs from the government, and get out and make our own money. We need to convince Somali parents all over the world to put a strong emphasis on school and good marks. For education is the only way out of a dead end life and job. We need to ask for homework clubs to be started up in our communities, so our children get the most out of the free education in North America. We need to ask schools in our communities to open u their gyms, so that our youth have places to play and hang out. Brothers and sisters, this is not an unreachable goal; if it was I would have not wasted my time telling this useful information to you people. We just need to as a whole, become people of action, and not just words. Then Insha Allah, one day other new comers to North America or Europe will wish they were like the Somali people. Remember “United we stand, Divided we fall” America has gone by that motto for so long, and have been very successful. In conclusion, education and knowledge are power, so reach high to obtain all the knowledge you can take in.

salaam my muslim brothas and sistas,

brotha/sis i understand wat ur saying and agree with parts of ur view point, however, instead of tryin to develop the land of the kufaar, we should work hard to develop our own destroyed land.

also brotha, wat u mean by muslim extremists??
brotha, we should neva use those terms, there terms that r used by the zionist controlled media to deface islam and muslims. by the way extremism in islam is forbidden.

1 more thing brotha/sista, nice speech, its a real good motivative speech.

Commen Sense,

I agree with you and what you said made me see somethings in a diffrent light. But bro or sis tell me; what can you do when you try to help your people, and the only thing you get back is S***?

Although I'm not from the us, I have tried to do the same in my corner of the world. And what I have realised is that our people are short on will, strenght, and honestly that is what I have seen and that made me work even more harder but for what reason, they still didn't whant me to help them. We have to much proud that is what's keeping us back.

I wish you good luck in your corner of the world

I seem to have been a little misunderstood. The only reason I said extremist, is because whether you like the facts or not, there a few brothers/sisters that for some reason believe, that if you are Muslim you are a Supreme Being. However, I understand that does happen in every other religion, but we must first acknowledge our peoples faults. Islam is without a doubt in my mind the number one religion, however, that does not give me the right to think I am better then every other human. Moreover, to brother/sister Jamiila, I understand that although you are also lending a helping hand, your Somali brothers/sisters do not do the same for you. Nevertheless, please continue doing the good deeds. Remember Somalis are a lost people (no offence), but that is the truth. They forgot how to thank someone, when they receive help, they forgot how to trust. So as you can see, you will not always get the reaction you were hoping for, when you help your brothers/sister, but please all I can say is continue. Oh and I almost forgot, to answer the comment about why should we build Kufaar nations, instead of ours. Brothers/sisters, we are not currently in Somalia, therefore we must work were work is currently available. It is illogical to use, you not being in Somalia as an excuse not to work. Make a name for yourself were ever your currently reside, then Insha Allah, in the near future Somali will be ready for whatever help you can provide in it reconstruction. It only makes sense that you go back to Somalia an educated person, which is capable of using acquired knowledge on whatever field of interest, to help your people. If you are one of those people that refuse to work, and obtain free education, then all I can say is please reevaluate your life plans. In conclusion, I want all Somali people to ask them selves two question. “ What do you want to do with your life, and what do you want to be remember by when you are no longer here on Earth.”

muslimah,

i got sick of your pigotary comments all along. you go to masjid and do some tasbiih and tahliil and leave our discussion hell alone. Go to religion part. i hate you comming here and preaching old fashioned and extreme islam version.

Common-sense,

I am with ya 100%. And i can guarantee you we can achieve whatever other soceity achieved. But first we need to overhaul islam in order for us to get rid of pigots like muslimah and likes. We have to develop new islam which compatible with 21 century. and guess what ! we can. Islam is just common sense. Why Allah doesn't want us to achieve what a kufaar achieved?. You see it doesn't make any sense. there is this hadith that goes " any good idea/wisdom is lost property of muslim and no matter where it comes, if the muslim finds one, he/she is can borrow/claim it".

Thus, your wisdom is highly appreciated and supported. you have 100% of my agreement and attention.

Bro/sis that was a great idea u came up with and i agree with u 100%. We aren't different from those zionists...we can achieve whatever they did and even perhaps more !
As u have stated, we need unity! and thats the only way we can achieve anything. But how can we do this if we keep on insulting each other throwing back hateful words(clearly demonstrated by Alipapa).... howz this possible? Just imagine how ppl would react if u talked to them in real lif, leave alone discussion via somalinet!
Somali peepz are hard headed( well known fact)...and the only way we can achieve anything is to stop pretending that we know everything.... commenting e.g commenting stuff without thinking ahead.

Alipapa,
By reading ur above statement, u sound like those who been brain washed by da western media towards islam! I am not here to start an argument, but bro u need to chill out sometimes and re-read whatever u type.

"Go to religion part. i hate you comming here and preaching old fashioned and extreme islam version". This is pathetic man!

Common sense you are an idealist, but I agree with some of the things you said. HOR U SOCOD. In order for us to come together as nation, we need to produce smart, educated, and highly developed individuals who acquire Western knowledge, but not their values. For your plan it would be impossible to saperate one from another, because in order someone to make a distinction between the two, one needs to know exactly what the dividing line is. It is clear then the need to be a sound Muslim in order to avoid such confusion, or else how would one examine his actions. Islam decides what you do and what you don't, you can't live on the fence. Many poeple don't question the wisdom of these do's and don'ts, and they end up blurring the line.
In short, one needs to know the building blocks of perceived danger before he calls them danger. The little things you do every day may be pulling you toward crossing the LINE, and to avoid that it is a extremely neccessary to have a base which to turn to. I have not seen many people who complemented their secular knowledge to religious knowlegde. The new generation of Somalis will not attian political, economic mastery unless they combine modern social science techniques with Qur'anic values. In other words achiave Qur'anic and Sunnah value by using social science tools. This is a must since Western Capitalism is using the same tool to undermine our Qur'anic and Sunnah values. Do you think it is accident that we are divided along clan lines, along religious sects, and now along regional. Trust me I know what I am saying. MAN AREN'T WE SLEEPING!! The success of Somalis as a race depends ONLY one question, WHO ARE WE? Imitating other will not take you that far. Lets find out who we are, ask questions, then we will know everything we need.

Thanks for your effort and concern over our community.

Brother/Sister, Moh luv I really understand were your coming from, when you say Somali people are hard headed. However, the only way ignorance can be defeated, is by showing your Somalis brothers & sisters, that ignorance is a sign of a weak mind. Never give up, always try your best to show them your best side, then maybe "Insha Allah" they will see the light. I blame the necessary quick adaptation to our new environments, for the problems within our community. Somali people that still argue that people have reached space want to act like they were the wickedest person to live. We have to make them realize that trying to act like someone from the ghetto is not a way of life.

durgal,

I hate you hypocrite when you start playing your religion card. Let's see what you wrote down.

"In order for us to come together as nation, we need to produce smart, educated, and highly developed individuals who acquire Western knowledge, but not their values. For your plan it would be impossible to saperate one from another, because in order someone to make a distinction between the two, one needs to know exactly what the dividing line is".

So jews acquired christian value to reach the progress they reached?. Sir are you saying jews changed their religion, judaism, to achieve what they have achieved?.

FYI jews have their religion and gained western knowledge. They didn't loose their culture either.
And muslims can gain western knowledge without consuming western values.

You don't have to come here and preach us your 7 century islam to discourage us to move on. We gonna prepare the rat race and you damn sure we will win. call us idealists or some other names.

Moh Luv,

look you gotta be kidding. Somalis inly understand ass kicking and harsh words. Unfortuantely that is the only time thy reason correctly.

I know exactly where your coming from bro, I asked myself the same questions everyday, why do somali ppl have no determination and drive? Last year I started my own business, and when I approached my fellow somali brothers and sisters, I was amazed by the response. Soamlis have dreams and they know what they want, they have the potentail to the best, but they don't want to work for it and they rather recieve hand outs. Bro, you have to realise one thing, you can only help ppl if they want to be helped.
I am on my way to being a very successfull individaul, but I would prefer if there was more of us to make the big difference in Somalia.

Brothers and sisters, first I would like to thank all of you that took the time to be apart of this topic. Now getting to my point, we must somehow show our Somali people, that the welfare system "is really meant" to break you instead of helping you. It is just a simpler form of racism, were you get to stay home and not make something out of yourself, thus leaving open a wide range of jobs to white people. Welfare only helps you, when you can be on it for like 3-5 months while you try to find a job, then your off it. Now I really do not blame the governing bodies of these North American countries for what they are doing, I mean they are just trying to get the best possible position in this world for their own people. Something we really need to start consider doing ourselves.

I have a dream
I dream that some day we will rise
reach our goals
but if we want to achieve our goals
we have to help each other
I know that we are hard headed but we just have to try harder
we shouldn't give up
I totally agree with the fact that welfare system is meant to keep us at home
we are thinking why work when we can get money without lifting a finger
but what we forget is that what welfare stands for
instead of claiming welfare we should do our best to profit from all the opportunities we get thrown in our laps
wake up ppl

Can I add my two cents or is it already a discussion that is past dated?.. Either case this is what I think....if u really want to make a difference in ur community start with urself... as Somalis.." salaadi sey u kala horeysaa loo kala dukadaa"...what I mean by all this...master what u know....then pass it to the next door naighbor b4 u reach out for those that r miles away.......am I making any sense to you??.

Common Sense: Its really an article is that is very well articulated..but like brother Durgal said.. u r more idealist than realist....though many of what u said can be achieved. My advice to u to is ........u have great enthusiasm and energy......USE THEM WISELY AND PRODUCTIVELY.

Alipapa since we are not discussing issues let start the game.

Normally I don't answer Alipapa's feed backs, I see him as victum of childhood disease of ass kissing scientific revolution which explians the intensity of his negativity toward others.

Historical facts about Alipapa

Alipapa was dropped off by his biological mother at Youth revolutionary center shortly after he was born. Luckily he was adopted by Barre's Ubaha Kacaanka where he spent most of his teenge live. There some rumors that at the age of 14 Alipapa was molested by three member gang who belonge to Abgaal clan. Most people characterize Alipapa as deeply troubled individual.

Finally Alipapa hates Abagaal, Jesus, women.

Warning if anyone has some information about this marine mammal please inform the Kenyan police.

Somali ppl, we need to stop taking welfare, take advantage of the great oppertunities that surround us everywhere, open your minds. Welfare is just a way for these governments to limit your potentail, to hold you back.

Get off welfare, go after your dreams, and remember without ALLAH nothing is possible or you will pay for it later.

now and then , i stumble into a group of very sincere somali brothers having an intense and emotional conversation of our lives inthe diaspora. they analyse what went wrong and offer idealistic solutions to get of the mess that our father's have left for us to deal. they suggest some game plans for the local community , and some idealistic , but practical solutions, after everything is said and done, everyone goes home and the whole thing becomes a thing of the past.all of us , including me are dreamers . we are duds. no substance , we just have ambitions no actions.the reason one may ask , because society is very suspicious of good deeds and not developed to welcome creativity . until we mature and ripen . things will stay the way they are. you may say this is a pasamistic view, you bet its, but its the grim reality we live in God bless.
