i still listen to his songs..
though he asked people to burn them.
i can't help it but i like them and whenever i listen to them i reminisce good times and wonderful life....
i know he is a very religious guy now and a muazzin

my favorite song is this:

hanaankaaga wanaagsan
marka aad i horjoogto
sida heega daruura
oo kaliishii hilaacday
ayaan kuu handadaayoo
aawadaa u haraaday

howl baad i badoo
habaabaye!
kuu halaabaye ii hiloow

waxa aan hanti leeyahay
ana kaa hagran maayoo
haweenoo dhan hadeey yihiin
adigaa ugu horeeyo
waa inaan ku helaayoo
cidna heeygu haleen

howl baad i badoo
habaabaye!
kuu halaabaye ii hiloow.

hilibkeeyga iyo jiirka
halboowlaad u aheeydoo
hadda weey ku jeclaatoo
qalbigaad holisaayoo
ku hagoogo nafteeyda
halis beey ku jirtaayee

howl baad i badoo
habaabaye!
kuu halaabaye ii hiloow.

MAN where these kids came from and where have they been?
let me help you with this.
ZULFA was one of the most famous and liked somali singer. he belonged to IFIN BAND....
have u ever heard ZULFA, SAALAX, SUGULLE , SHANKAR, SHEEKH CABDI, SHANKANOOLE IYO JEERI?
iftin was and still is one of the vanguards of somali entertainment and best music band.

back then in somalia every one was into western music. all the somali clubs played western music....then zulfa came and modernized some somali songs and he become a hit. then he become one of the best banaadir singer. every one was into his music. he had large followers all over the country. he had concert tours in gulf states, egypt, kenya, djibouti and sudan.
though he was somewhat sufi and still a great musician, zulfa totally changed. he renounced his singing career and become an IKHWAAN..a very practicing muslim. he asked people to burn his music and not to listen his musicgain. he also become a muezzin in some masjid in saudi arabia..( IN MECCA)....i don't have his whereabouts now.

but people liked his music and they were all hit. he has revolutionized the somali music to an extent it become a national thing back then in somalia. he has produced a lot of different volumes with different styles.

for me i like this

hamiga heeyga haleeynine
...................
kaama herin waa hubaa
ma haleeli karee armaan ka heraa hooy
ii hamuuntaan kuu qabee, halibka kaaga heeybiyee
soo haadee i soo hadee hooy
hilibka waa iga hoobtayeee
heerimaa
ku waayay har iyo habeen heerimaa

kids,

Anyone of you that blurted out "who is Zulfa?" can go straight to hell with no question asked. You are nothing but disgrace to the all music- loving community in particular and all humanity in general. How on earth that you guys know Somali artists without knowing Zulfa huh?

Ok, after you kids went to hell, you can read Hassan's post while your fleshes are burning. And i will add that Zulfa was the best artist of all somali artists. He was the first artist who stole other artist's work. but hey it was good theft that everyone justified because his version was the best of all.

And i really don't care if he is muazzin or imam at the kaba, i will still listen his songs no matter what he says.

Alipapa,

I MET ZULFA 3 YEARS AGO IN SAUDI ARABIA (JEDDAH), AND THE GUY WAS REALLY ASKING THE PPL TO BURN HIS TAPES AND WAS EVEN ASKING THEM TO SELL HIM BACK HIS TAPES SO HE CAN BURN THEM.

HE WAS A GREAT SINGER INDEED AND A GOOD MUSLIM NOW.

alipapa zulfa didn't steal any music. i was in germany in 1989 and i met hiba mohammed " cudoon" and we were listening to zulfa tape. he sings two of her songs and we asked how she feels about that and she said... he honored her and respected her. she also said he is full of love to all and specially she said zulfa made me popular when he sang that song " MA MUUJIYEE JACEEYLKA WAAN Maldayaa nafteeyda waan waan maaweeliyaa" she said suddenly when people heard the song they came to know me too. ( a lot of the kids and others who didn't know me)
the other thing is zulfa had his own songs and they were even more lyrical and more beautiful.

yeah he modernized and sampled those songs. even in USA, artists will borrow a famous popur song sang by other artists.
ZULFA brought back some old songs who were forgetten, songs by magool, kuluc and so on. he also crossed over to djibouti and sandg that beautiful song...Heeyaa alla hubaal hoobaloowa...
just ask somali people in djibouti and you will be amzed how they love zulfa. in 1985 i was in nairobi kenya and everywhere the people where listening to zulfa..i mean sijuui and kswahili people...

i love to listen these songs no matter what he said and to the kids i would say go to somali music stores..there are about 10 volumes of his songs...my favoriter tape is the one he does it with kaban..with songs like:
qaabiilba haabiil markuu qoonsaduu dilayee...
and
allahayoow maxaa iga qabsaday..waan qarsanaayee mooyee maxuu jiirka qalay jaceeyl maxaan qamuunyooday......

i heard that zulfa had only on song in the RADIO MOGADISHU studi and that was a nabi amaan...they call it ERGADII FURQAAN..it's long and beautiful.... if any one knows where i can get that..please tell me. i asked those studios but they don't have it.

i think he is imaam now and he is very religious person. i also heard from people who knew him that he was always shy and religious person.

kuuseey shut up and listen to mystical and lil kim!
they are at your level of ignorance.

somali sings didn't come out of the bushes. some of them are even international, living and residing in europe, asia and africa. somali music started places like aden, djibouti, rome, india, tanzania and zanzibar. kids have no grasp of jhistory and that is typical, kuuseey it aint your fault and let's not blame your nomadic parents. i bet the first city u have seen in your life is here in the diaspora.
somali artists, poets, playwrights, folklore artsits, dancers have the highest esteem in our societies. in early 1970s somali folklore bands like waaberi have been winning international awards for their performances in BERLIN , GERMANY, BEKING, CHINA, LAGOS, NIGERIA, SUDAN, EGYPT, KOREA, RUSSIA, ITALY... i bet you never even heard that cos your parents are what? uneducated? you are not only bringing shame and disrepct to yourself but your whole upbringing..and sis before you open wide that mouth...think ..use your intelect and think about repercussions and consequences you could attract/

doqon kuuseey
