Somaliwomen have carried us for nine months, fed us, taught us how to walk, carried us on their back when we were unable to do so, combed our hair, dressed us to go to school and loved us more than anything else... I wanna show my appreciation...to all the ladies.

This is for the fools who have made a habit insulting our mothers, sisters, future wives...somaliwomen have become the target for many demented guys in here..and I am here to present that famous song by SADE....PEARLS..to show them how the world thinks of a somaliwomen..

there is a woman in somalia
scraping for pearls on the roadside
there's a force stronger than nature
keeps her will alive
this is how she's dying
she's dying to survive
don't know what she's made of
i would like to be that brave

she cries to the heaven above
there is a stone in my heart
she lives a life she didn't choose
and it hurts like brand-new shoes

hurts like brand-new shoes

there is a woman in somalia
the sun gives her no mercy
the same sky we lay under
burns her to the bone
long as afternoon shadows
it's gonna take her to get home
each grain carefully wrapped up
pearls for her little girl

hallelujah
hallelujah

she cries to the heaven above
there is a stone in my heart
she lives in a world she didn't choose
and it hurts like brand-new shoes
hurts like brand-new shoes

Actually it is a great song. It can be found on Sades greatest hits album. I play it to my girlfriend once in a while.

Devils Love I think she says "there is a storm in my heart" vice stone, but I'll double check.

You reminded me of the guy who took the photo in Sudan of the little kid squatting in the desert with a vulture standing next to him waiting for him to die so he could have dinner. That was a famous photo. But the thing that always stayed with me about it was what the photographer did afterward. He shooed the bird away, sat down and had a cigarrete. I don't know, but I'm thinking maybe he should have picked the kid up and brought him to a feeding center.

You also reminded me of a little boy named Omar. We found him sleeping against the Embassy compound wall. He said he was six years old. Both his parents were dead. He had no family (at least that he knew of) and no where to go. Truly a sad case. We fed him and kept him around for a few days, but we couldn't keep a kid in a military unit. So we brought him to an orphanage that we were supporting with drives back home (food, school supplies and money). Boy he didn't want to stay there. One of the guys wanted to bring him home, but that turned out to be a lot harder than it sounded. He ended up staying at that orphange as far as I know. I wish I could find out what happened to that kid.

Hibo :

Got three words for ya..I LOVE YA

The Rest :

This is nothing more than an attempt to revive the positivity that has been lost due to relentless gender war. I hope we become responsible and stay away from insulting each other. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to understand that we were given to birth by not every women but Somalian women.

MadMac :

Well that is what it sounded like to me "stone" not "storm"..but please some dig into it...I might be mistaken.

i have a lot of sisters, so it really hurts to see some one disrespecting our girls.
guys we can have fun without insult, we can joke and mess each other , trick, goof off, what ever in a clean fun way. word

Some of you have indicated that the song is somewhat not a suitable way to represent somalianwomen's praise..well I invite you to pay a closer attention to these lines :

"it's gonna take her to get home
each grain carefully wrapped up
pearls for her little girl "

These lines depict how caring somalianwomen are under those unpleasant circumstances..i.e she had to go through that ordeal to bring food for her little girl. The song also shows how strong yet loving our women could be. Consider these lines :

"there's a force stronger than nature
keeps her will alive "

MadMac :

No reason to be jealous..at least you admittedly have a girlfriend...unlike me...who is just getting the taste of it...Man I am big fan of you, well the GAAL part troubles me though...

Ahmed :

You do know they say "AMIIN" in the Churches after the priest..yet that does not prohibit us from saying it..when we are praying. Nevertheless this is a song written and sung by non-muslim people..so it was only to serve as a PRAISE for "DUMARKEENA SHARAFTA LEH"...bear in mind...I am just as islam-loving as you are or any other muslim for that matter.

Last Anon :

I get asked that question alot. Time to pick another nick....please send your favourites as I am in search of one....thx....your point is well taken...

Love ya all my people..

i really sorry for some of you guys. it seems you value more a foreign rock artist than somali poet or singer. that is a manifestation of inferiority complex.
it also shows how we have blindlessly and foolishly embraced other cultures.
every nation and society respects and put ahead its artists than others.
that song by sade about the somali woman is really not a tribute to somali woman. it's a very painful song about the suffering of people. it is about famine, starvation and disasters.
i think somali poets, artists and singers have paid homage to their somali beautiful women in many poetry composed in our rich language. some of these you guys may not know since you either all lost or never been taught about your culture.

INDHA DEERALEEY, HOOYO. SIDA GEED CALEEN LEH, DAHAB LA MIIRAY. ubax, hablaha geeska, suleekha, qoraxdoo aroottii, aragsan, hablaha geeska afrika are some of the tributes to our sisters.
there is this song by SAMATAR which is far more better than the SADE one

HASSAN ADAN SAMATAR: A BEAUTIFUL SONG DEDICATED TO ALL MY BEAUTIFUL SISTERS....

EEYNIGEEDA DUMARKIYO
ASAAGEED KA MUDANEEY
AFAR SUXUL KA ROONEEY

EDEBTIYO ASLUUBTIYO
ANSHAX LAGU HAGOOGYEEY

ABUURTII WACNEEDEE
ILAAHEEY SAMEEYEE
SOOMALIDA AHEEYDEEY

KAA DEEYRAN EEDUHU --AAMIIN
KAA OOWDAN CEEBUHU --AAMIIN

IDIM ALLAH RUGTAADIYO
IRDAHAAD KU NOOSHAHAY
ALHUMADUU MA GAADHOO
BALAAYADU MA AADEE

UBAXII DALKEEYGIYO
INDHA KUUSHII BAA TAHEE

INANTII ARLIGAAY
ARAGII WADANKAAY
UDUGII DHULKA HOOYIYO
QURUXDII UMADAAY
IL IYO CAWRI LA'AAW

-----OOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOO-------

AADMIGAA U SHARAF BADAN
ALLAH WAXUU SAMEEYEE
HABKII UU U SAMEEYAAY

UDUGIYO UBAXEEY
EHELKEEDA QURUXDAAY

ILEEYSKII CADCEEDAAY
AFAR IYO TOBNAADEEY
OLOL IYO HILAACEEY

KAA DEEYRAN EEDUHU --AAMIIN
KAA OOWDAN CEEBUHU --AAMIIN

INDHA KUUSHII BAA TAHEE

INANTII ARLIGAAY
ARAGII WADANKAAY
MIDABKII ASLANAA IYO
QURUXDII AFRIKAAY

that is a tribute.

DON'T LET THE GAAL THING BOTHER YOU. THERE'S LOTS OF THEM AROUND. ANYWAY, LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE, AT LEAST I'M A FRIEND OF ISLAM - NOT A DETRACTOR.

HIBO
I STILL AM MADLY IN LOVE. I HAVE A TRULY SWEET WOMAN. SHE HAS A GENEROUS HEART, ALWAYS PUTS OTHERS FIRST, IS A REAL SWEETHEART. AS LONG AS SHE STAYS WITH ME, THEN I'LL STAY WITH HER. BUT IT'S FUN TO TALK ABOUT IT ANYWAY. I ALWAYS HAD A THING FOR SOMALI WOMEN AND SOMALI COOKING.
