Somalis have time and again expressed their disatisfaction of the current status of politics in our country. This prompts me to put several questions to Somalis concerning our future government.
1. What type of a government would you like in our country to have and why?
2. What are your expections of a government in our country
3. How in your own opinion, do you think a future government can meet your expectation of it? |

What i would like to see is localize Municipal or States Gov't running their internal affairs. I know Today's Clan based politics in Somalia is not ready to establish Federdal System which we can all agree. My expectation of any Gov't whether be Somalia or elsewhere is one that protects rights all somalis, promotes liberty, Justice, free election,and so on. But, knowing my ppl there won't be any gov't like that for years to come. What i don't understand is, may be 'cause my upbringing or the way i think, why on earth would decent person wage wars and killed ppl in order ro attain power. This is true for all Somali ppl regardless of their background or education level. I don't think, given the hatred and ignorance that prevails in Somalia, i have any expectation for years to come. |

Allow me to say that you have part given me your opinion on the first two questions I posed but not on the third one. What I would like to know is that since you prefer having a government on localised municipal or states running their own affairs, how can a future government realise such objective with the background of current politics?
How would the municipals or states as they would be running their internal affairs be able to finance themselves considering that most areas, be they towns or villages, have little resources to meet important issues such as health and education?
What would be in your opinion the policies of the government towards clan politics and how can they be implemented? |

I don't understand your question of Future Gov't?. Do you mean federal gov't or state gov't?. I agree with you that some states would have hard time providing some of the basic things like healthcare, education and so on. But, in the long run as Somalia becomes stable some of sort federal gov't will be needed to make sure some the poorer states get some the things i mentioned before. Here in the USA, some states are less wealthier than others, so what does fedearl gov't do?. It takes some wealthier states like New Jersey and gives to states like Alabama. In the meantime, i don't want to see a dictator calling himself president bring more problems than these pp are having now. In my opinion Clan politics would work in the short time, but not in the long run. In the short run we can use to establish states gov't 'cause the hatred that exists among Somalis. In the long run, as i said earlier we will need is federal gov't that represents all Somalis....KH2 |
