Asalaama calaykum waraxmatulaahi wabarakaatu.

I just want to know what all of my brothers and sisters who are going to higher education institutions want to do in the Future, insha allah (Meaning are you going back home to help rebuild it or not.) Can we actually count on you? I also will love to know all the different Majors That each of you is pursuing. Feel free to ask any clean questions.

If you cannot say anything worthwhile please don't bother to post in here at all.

If I offended anybody, please forgive me.

Thank you all.
Wabilaahi Towfiiq.

IF YOU WANT BE RICH & HAPPY DON'T GO TO SHCOOL ,
the education systerm in this countrys we live
are failurs, that is why many of us still trap in
this rat race of getting a job , spend every single cent and live on credit, if you follow
this systerm you are digging yourself a hole
which would be too hard to get out of. so what
is the answer to the q? , i sugest you learn
financial literacy that is never thaught in
schools, it allways provides healthier bottom-line
results than even the best of traditional jobs.

First an education will make you very humble, you don't go a Higher education To doubt others

The DNA was first discovered in 1869, but its role in genetic inheritance was not demonstrated until 1943, in 1953 James Watson and Francis Crick determined That, The structure of the DNA

Knowledge surely makes one humble in his search to further humanity one way or the other.
Let me put you in prespective, of course little mistakes go a long way of misleading and can cost you points if not some valuable credits.
in 1869 yes, u r right, and the man who discovered it is Johann Friedrich Miescher. the molecule nuclein, that is what he called it . It wasn't until the 1950's that DNA was determined to be the genetic material. This was accomplished by two scientists, Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase, who studied viral replication in bacteria. In 1953 James Watson and Francis Crick discovered the three-dimensional structure of DNA: a double helix (a double helix looks like a spiral staircase), but not its discovery(DNA), they simply found its shape.
And in a general sense, it is agreed among scholars today that Gregor Mendel has implicitly talked about something he called "factor" in which scientists today agree that it was DNA.
Anyway a good try. u did satisfactorilly

That was great, so you are a history major I assume, can you also tell me the inventor of protein crystollography, I am sure your book of "makers and inventions" has something on that topic. You see I don't have such book, when we are Gene sequencing, or performing interrupted mating experiment of Ecoli, we don't ask ourselves, who is the inventor of such and such. But I am glad you are here to investigate the phonies from the real research doctors. Have you tried applying for the FBI, I am sure they could use your examplary talent for investigation.

The CRAB THEORY SAYS:

When you place several crabs in a basket, you will get, few who will attempt to scale the side and jump to freedom, but you know what, it was found other crabs will actually hold the hind legs of such ambitions crabs.

Student I aint mad at you, for holding the hind legs of everybody in here....

PS. the topic is about majors and contribution to somalia, in case you you need glasses.

how annoyed you are!
Anyway you are a crystollographer? are you ? no wonder then of your unthought and unheard remark that """when we are Gene sequencing, or performing interrupted mating experiment of Ecoli, we don't ask ourselves, who is the inventor of such and such""
Scientific methods are all written down as principles to be followed and please dont say it again for the sake of shame.
arent ashamed of your scholarly error?
Til you admit that you have erred, i wont waste my valuable time with you.
Whose procedure do u follow when you are performing gene sequensing? uh ummm your freebie style,,lol.

I feel as smart the day i started my 1st degree. The present day education system in the UK is not what it used to be all you need is a good short term memory like mine and the ability to hand course work in on time.

It still has advantages to have a degree these days. I would not be surprised in future if they start asking for a minimum qualification of a degree to work for McDonalds... :-)

i think some of us here are real jokers, it is a simple question why not give a simple answer to that. we shouldnt lose hope for our country. Our land has alot of good natural resources, that needs younger generation like us to work together to build a technology to get that out and get our country back in operation.

what is pre-med? is there a major called "pre-med", if you're in that program, does it mean you've already been accepted into medical school and taking prerequisite courses....or does it mean you plan on applying eventually to med school and this program increases your chances down the line.

Adam bro you are right, i don't understand what it is that you are saying. If you mean to say we should all consider being our own bosses, then there is more to it then having the qualification. A lot of successfull business men and women never continued their education beyond high school.

Being educated is only part of the formula required to becoming employable. TO be self employed requires a lot of hard work creativity and sacrifice more often it leads to poverty then riches, therefore most rather have an easy life and settle for a parmenant job preverably as a civil servant.

Self empleyment gives little intial security, most people consider security more important then financial independence 'my opinion'.

I suppose there are an increasing number of over educated under appretiated somalians outside of africa just praying for the chance return home and contribute to the development of our motherland.

Adam

Maybe you should start an agency that recruites somali employees from the WEST to the motherland, <<< brillian idea just requires a lot of sacrifice, commitment and negative profit(loss) for a few years :).

Good luck to all those who wish to return. I'll consider retiring there perhabs!

My dear brothers and sister,
Thank you for answering my question and those of you who will check in here later, please do the same and tell me your major.

None of you may never understand, but this makes me very happy, to see all of these somali brothers and sisters who are working so hard to make a bright future for themselves.:)

Few of you claimed that they don't want to go back home to somalia, that is okey. Nobody is forcing you to do so, but please make sure that you have some values of your own wherever you are.

About me:
Major: Biology
Minor: computer networking,
Then I will go to medical school, insha allah and I am looking forward to becoming a genocologist.

anonymous Pre-med is a course that you complete and then you apply to medical school, but medical schools are real picky and I don't know whether I will get in or not. If I am accepted then great, if I am not then I will pursue another degree in Pharmacy and then go back to somalia. I don't know about you guys, but I really miss somalia. I am feeling very homesick.

Thank you all again for replying and keep up the good work. I am very proud of you all.:)

it all depend on you (the cash flow),cause
private schools will charge you per flight
hour...anyhow if you have around 30,00-40,00
you can get all your licenses(private, commercial,
multi-engine,and instruments)in less than 2years

if you can't ,,,do it they way i did it
join the air force or the navy...
then uncle sam(the government) will take
care of the bill....

and usually commercial airlines like to hire from
the military..to avoid expensive training..

if you are under20 years old...join the military
by the time you get your hours and licenses
and ready to join the commercial air lines
with out spending a penny..you will be less than 26years old
any way if you need more help or info leave your
e-mail address and i will contact you
i don't come to the forums that much...but
good luck brother...and may allah be with you
in your journey..peace out

IS THERE ANY SOMALIS LIVING CURRENTLY IN COLORADO SPRINGS,CO???????

TO ADAM AND THE REST
ITS QUITE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THE YOUNG MINDS OF SOMALIA ARE THINKING. SOME OF YOU KNOW YOUR DIRECTION IN THE FUTURE WHILE OTHER HAVE YET TO FIND THAT PATH.
TO THOSE OF YOU WHO BELIEVE THAT EDUCATION IS NOT YOUR KEY TO A BETTER FUTURE THEN YOU ARE VERY WRONG,YOU WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE ANYTHING OF IMPORTANCE HERE OR BACK HOME. ADAM YOU SPOKE ABOUT BEING YOUR OWN BOSS, HOW DO YOU SUPPOSE YOU WILL HAVE THAT? HAVING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS, MAYBE BECAUSE YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE INDIVIDUAL WHO SEES EDUCATION AS NO USE. YOU CAN BARELY SPELL HOW DO EXPECT PEOPLE TO HIRE YOU. EDUCATION IS AN INVESTMENT THAT WILL PAY OFF. WHY DO YOU THINK COUNTRIES IN THE WEST SPEND ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF MONEY ON EDUCATION IF A LITERATE SOCIETY IS NOT IMPORTANT AS YOU SAY.
TO THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK THAT THERE WILL NOT BE A SOMALIA, YOU ARE WRONG. THERE WILL BE A BETTER SOMALIA BECAUSE IT WILL HAVE A MORE LITERATE SOCIETY, YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELVES THAT HAVE A PASSION TO MAKE A MORE DEVELOPED NATION, THAT HAVE ALSO SEEN FIRST HAND WHAT A REPRESENTATIVE STATE IS. THE WAR GAVE A LOT OF US AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE SOME OF THE BEST EDUCATION IN THE WORLD FREE. IN SOMALIA UNLESS YOU WERE WEALTHY YOU COULD NOT GO TO THE STATE SCHOOLS. THE BEST THING THAT YOU CAN GET FROM THIS COUNTRY IS EDUCATION, WHY SHOULDN'T YOU INVEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY IF YOU CAN?
PEOPLE IN CANADA AND US ARE NOT DYING OF STARVATION OR DISEASE OR LACK OF A DEPENDABLE GOVERNMENT, BUT PEOPLE IN SOMALIA ARE.

Need2Know

Sorry but i don't know how to be rich. It means little to me and has always done so. My thirst is for knowledge and experiencing physical and mental boundaries while i have the chance to do so. Allah[swt] only knows how long i have to live, i do what makes me happy and not what every body else is aiming for(riches.

I'll have what i need in life such as, a home, car if necessary sufficient funds to travel around the world and raise a family.

Most people who want to be rich are not sure why! evaluate your life and find out what makes you happy not what someone else said would make you happy.

Answer me 1 question, are rich people you know of happy or content with their lifes?

also

Do you think you can buy happiness?

Maybe you are already rich bro, don't hide your intelligence though, it is easy to see you are educated, dispite your attempts to conceal that fact.

To Student

Thank you, but I am not in Chrystollography, that is just one of the methods I use to perform protein sequencing. In short, we take a protein, any protein, sequence it, stay up 5-7 nights working back to the DNA, ofcourse you know for every Amino acid = a codon, thats (AAT)or(AGC)or(CTG) and so on, then you have the sequence of the gene, use that and you can identify where in the DNA did that protein came from. Please refrain from telling me who invented that, and also from entering an endless argument..

NaturalGirl

Ofcourse there is hope, do you think biological medicine has all the answer, sometimes a flower, seed, the blood of a snake or a tree root, will save the person pain and disconfort. So sis, by all mean please study, the more fields we study the better for us, and hopefully our country.

kamaldin

Bro so if I need to build the tallest skyscraper in Mogadishu, would need help in structural Dynamics. lol..

You said 4 years see you in mogadishu. Sis did you not forget Somalis always show up late, you should have told them 3 years, then on the fourth year you will find them all at the airport asking "am I too early for the party"...:)

Everybody

So far I saw, Pre-med, Med, Engineering, Chemisit, Biologist, Biotechnologist, English, Computer Tech, IT, Natural medicine.

Anybody in the following field?

Agriculturalist, Urban planers, Nursin, Climatologist, Social students, Psychologist, Finacial studies, Archiologist, Waste management, Marine Biologist, Architects, Industrial studies, Public relations, Administration, and the list goes on.

People if we need to rebuidl that country we are gonna need all of those and much more, so introduce those fields to your ambitions siblings or friends,(that are somali), eitherwise what am I gonna do with Engineers and Doctors, each expecting to get paid alot and do little...

Thank you for keeping this topic rolling.

Hey sirrus,
I would like to know more about the biothecnology, like how long does it take, what will you be doing (what kind of people are you going to work with). Does it have something to do with genetic engeering, cloning, etc? Can you go to medical school after you major in biothecnology?
About the majors you have mentioned; so far I know few fellow brothers and sisters who are interested in these feilds. media thechnology, architect, marine biology?, Criminal justice lawyers, family lawyer, and hopefully we will find the rest, insha allah.

Hey Ali,
That is good advice, but the problem is that I am not a brother, do you think that there is hope there for me and that I can get away with it? from all the barriers? (not that I am complaining, but just a though provoking question.)
Given the fact that I want to keep my culture and religion intact.

To evrybody,
Thank you again all of you for keeping this discussion clean and fruitful and please keep up the good work. Please keep up the good work, keep on going and tell us what your major is and whether you plan help rebuild somalia or not.

God bless you all,

DrWho:

Long time, indeed. I am one of your fellow citizens of WhoVille. Remember?

Do I sound unfamiliar, unsoundable, untractable?

Well, I am me, yeah. So, what do you expect?

Yep, if you are confused, it is Waryaa, who now had been cloned for the reproduction of three twins called:

Well Basra, there aren't really so many 'journalsim' degrees here in England, but most people who want to go into Journalism usually do Media Studies/Sociology/or English. Enough people were like 'what you going to do with an english deg?' but everyone should do what they're passionate about right? So I think I ll stick with my writing. In the unlikely event that my novels become best sellers, then I'll retire early and become a 'full time' witer, now that would be cool.

After I graduate I hope to do some kind of postgraduate course in Journalism or Puplic Relations.I haven't really made up my mind yet. What about you?

Sirrus when i decided to undertake my current path i never had africa in mind!

I believe the motherland will be a beautifull place one day irrespective of my path. My country for the time being is my body and my loyalty is to it and we all should take care of our own needs first then one day we'll be able to contripute to the bigger picture.

If you can't fixup your own affairs and life style what is the point of talking about the development of the motherland.

Insha allah i'll live to see the day when, Somali/a/land has skyscrapers higher then the anything they got in USA or far east, even though someone mensioned the soil conditions won't support highrise or crapers. Not true though if you got the money you could build crapers in the ocean, so long as you got a purpose for doing it.

Now i am kinda glad that he did, because it means that i have better chances in life, meet great people and do my favourit thing in life 'doss'. Besides three years are nothing.

Comin back to the Q, I am not quite sure about weather i wanna go back to live in somalia or not, its been such a long time i dunno if i am going ever get used to the pace of life there. Don't get me wrong i soo wanna go back and see how things are but i don't think there is much for me to so up there. It kinda worries me, because i am not crazy about life in london either:(

Tragedy as it may sound, since you all seem to be educated or are in the way of becoming productive members of your chosen field, there is somehow a certain paradox in your statements which indicated that you are not in fact what you claim to be.
Dont please get paranoid simply this is a thought and you can correct me if i am wrong without resorting to vehement abuses and insults.
Most of you post some horrible messages here and there in this forums which is an indication of low intellect, idioticm, lack of purposefullness, disrespect and many other viles that i cant list here.
Yet here we have you as biotechnicals, doctors, teachers, engineers, nurses and etc, which is unbelieveable considering your twisted attitudes in some of the other pages.
Knowledge makes one's mind at ease, knowledge opens up new horizons in one's life and one is completely supmersed in it that one has this profound respect for himself and others.
Contradictions, false statements, lies and all these claims to knowledge on your part is nullified by your earlier postings that demonstrate your lack of concsiousness.
Knowledge strengthens one's moral principles and stand ,yet it has played the reverse in your case which is quite unbelieveable.
Today you are th engineer, the professor and etc in this forums, but tommorow you are the worst vile posting incomprehensible and often disrespectful comments here, so tell me why is this the case?
Good luck to your adventures and ideals, certainly one needs to be true to oneself before one ever thinks of higher domains outside his reach.

Alxamdulillah, aboosto lee waaye. Taada ka waran adi?

It really feels good to see you once again, old pal. And I 'meant' it.

Logical-Guy:

I can understand what you mean, but pardon us; 'we' are all striving to do our best. No one is best. You, me, or them. We are in the same path. Unfortunately, what some of us do write seem terribly unbearable to read. But, we must bear in mind to be patient.

And remember, they say the doctors are the best educated people on Earth, yet they write, most of them, some unreadable writing. They do all write scribblingly--whether they heed what they write or not. However, if I try to understand your logical point, that they are perfectly good in grammar, syntax, punctuation, and all of this things related to proper English language.

Again, we must not forget that no one is good in here. Or else where.

Logical guy,
You cannot blame anybody for writing what they feel like writing in other sites and as brother Macruufo mentioned nobody is perfect. Just because they talked about what they are studying or as you are putting it whay they are claiming to be studying, does not mean they took fake identity. Let them be and I am here saying that I am happy to see all of these people who are striving success or "claiming" to. Also the fact that they all are somalis and most of them are thinking about going back is just priceless.

AbdiBiliqo,
What is fraudology, does it mean you study something that has to do with psychology particularly the works of Sigmund Fraud? Please tell us.

Please accept my appology if I have offended you or anybody else at any point, but keep in mind that we need to respect what our fellow brothers and sisters are saying.

After a few years experience i'll go home and design control systems for somalian aircrafts....like the BIG 747 otherwise named Arsab...and the single seater executive jets such as AT.1Sen.0H... which will soon be introduced into the somali airports after years of exile...

These aircrafts require high maintainence and i defenately will be needed to design flight by night wireless systems to guide them back to ground, since the ground based aircraft... guidence systems are non-existant..... flown up there by some chad chewing xeeyran... who then decided to roll over and ly him self to rest..... for the safety of the malis on the ground... i'll have to be there to guide the heavy 747 down gentle to a holt on a long run way in the pitch black nights.......

I see myself with a mission...a successfull plan...clear goals for the future... i review my prospects on a regular bases to....renew my goals and... highlight my mission statement... as bold as can be.... hehehehe

Maryan,

Sorry it took this long, midterms and all. Anyway Biotechnology is a broad field, that includes cytogeneticist, genetic counsellors, Forensic genetisist, molecular specialist, research doctors, pharmasutical researchers and so on.

You can learn it by taking genetic courses and molecular biology programs in under grade university levels. You get 3y BSc.or 4y Hon.BSc. then you do some graduate studies like, Masters and PHd. That is the theoretical path, if you want to take the techniqual path, you study post graduate schools.

Your job, might include doing genetic research, advicing parent of child genetic visibility. Creating new genetic based drugs, working with food industry in creating healthy food for third world countries. If you are really creazy and have a PHd, you can perform genetic research on animals like cloning (by the way that is similar to copy and paste job). I hope that was enough information.

Rest of you guys keep doing what you are doing.

Here is my email if you need further info.

Logical guy what is your major? Somalia can benefit someone like who reasons well. Did you ever think about public life? Making your country proud. If you have any interest in venture like that let me know. We started this project "Saving Somalia" where bright young somalis are creating an environment that leads to a major social change. We know how to get from point A to B, but we have personnel problems, recruiting the right people. Somalia belongs to you and to me, but so far few people have stepped up. We are successful and gaining ground, but we need to expediate things.

SomeGuy, I like two of your lines. Where you talk about econ/policsi major and the other line " I DONT WANT TO SEE THAT DAY AS LONG AS I'M ALIVE,AND I'M SURE NONEOF U DO ASWELL." Add the two lines then you have a professional revolutionary, like Lenin. Someguy do you believe " Shimbirba shimbirteeda ayey laduushaa"?If you do then you need to get in touch with us and If the sentence reflects how you feel about Somalia then we are lucky to have on board. We have this unit who are preparing the ground work for social, economic, political change in somalia. In the end we will rely on two things: theoretical expertise and organizational skills, but to get there we must read, and train, and that is why we are inviting you.

I know that religiously point of view it is not the best topic to choose, but what I am aiming is to clone some ingenious, talented, creative, charismatic, honest and brainfull Somalis and get rid off some Somalis whom I really can't even resist to finish reading what they have just written, as SIRRUS said...those who like holding the hind legs of everybody in here and in Somalia....

to Durgal !!

bro thanx 4 ur kind words!
secondly, bro r u a marxsist?? lol
bro 2 b honest i dont really believe in many of lenin's ideology!

however, i do have much respect for some of his socialist theories!

i think if we possibile succeed on 1 day in actually bringing back SOMALIA in to the world map and into the WORLD COMMUNITY, then surelly...
our only path to that glory will b mixed (not too much to the right or to the left) economical & political polocies!

also, since we r a prodominintly a strict muslim society..... and since many of us have strong connections with the islamic sharia.......(and obviouslly the wider world will surelly not accept us 2 grow and mature as developed islamic sharia based nation........ I THINK WILL HAVE 2 B RATIONAL... PLAY & BEAT THE WESTERNS @ THEIR OWN GAME((WHICH IS BI-SYSTEM))....

we WILL HAVE 2 LEARN TO CO-EXIST PEACEFULLY WITH OUR KUFAAR NEIGHBOURS AND WITH THE REST OF THIS EVIL WORLD...BECAUSE OTHER THEN THAT, THEY WILL MAKE SURE 2 WIPE US OUT OF THIS WORLD!...like they r trying right now!

we will have 2 learn 2 use our brains and intellect powers in a more constractive, logical and smarter manner!!!!!!(((rather then behaving in barbaric,mid-evil tribalistic fashion...which we r now!......
we will have 2 realise that nation is country & society......tribal divisions is only like family fighting against each other ...brothers killing their cousins!..... a tribe pr caln can never stand alone...can never b a society....can never FORM a government.....can never b a country....can never get 2 no where......SOMALIA IS A NATION NOT A TRIBE!

<<<< i apologise if i slightly went off the topic<<< (((i hope u'll understand what i mean)))

anyway, bro do tell me more bout ur organisation...i'm sure its a facinating unit!
and i'll b more then happy 2 join u.

Some guy, as far as Marxist-Leninist is concerned it is wise to deal the devil if it advances your cause, besides, we awe the so-called "independence" to Bolshevik Revolution which Lenin single-handedly made it possible. It is extremely important in modern politics and social movements to be well-versed in as many diverse theories as possible. I have also noticed that we subscribe to a similar philosophy " Stay low when you need to, make all kinds of concession when it is appropriate and get stronger in the process and most importantly never lose sight of the big picture"

If orgnizational skills and theoretical expertise bring about social changes then Lenin would be our biggest ally, since he already confronted most of the problems we are facing now.
Here is why we need to pay attention for his contribition:

1. Without sense of theory among the oppressed people there will be no hope either the educated or the masses.
2. No single group in history has ever attained mastary unless it has produced political leaders, its leading representatives capable of organizing the movement and leading it.
3. Without the "dozen" tried and talented leaders ( and the talented men are not born in their hundred),professionally trained, schooled by long experience, and working in perfect harmony no group in modern society can wage a determined struggle.

Finally, Angels influential theory lists three stuggles: political, economic and theoretical struggle in which the latter seems to be the most important one. Those who lose in this struggle can not wage effective political and economic struggle. In other words, once you are convinced subjectively what you can do and cannot do, then it is no use to have all the reasources in the world. A classic example of Angel's argument would be Muslim intelletuals avoiding Lenin's organizational skills and theoretical insights for mere fact that he was Marxist. This precisely explains why Mulims countries are stuck Medeival thinking.

SomeGuy, I beleive Somalia can be transformed into a modern nation, but that can only happen if its sons take responsibility. In our part we started this project where we:

A. Trian politically by reading highly influential works of Muslim social thinkers and reformers as well as modern revolutionary theories.
B. Engage in systematic effort of developing our young genetations, both high school and college people.
C. Set up a web site for reaching out the civilwar generation.

In all fronts we are making progress. Just this afternoon I invited over four high school kids and it went very well. Another member of our group is presently preparing the web site. About the reading we are not that too far, you can jump in.

For literature reference incase you are wondering why i elaborated the tense part is: A hobby is a 'doing thing' like a verb?Islam cannot be a hobby because you cannot be doing islam. But if you would have said my hobby is to practice islam, then you introduced a verb following a noun.Comprende?

Emma.

Thanks for the tip. The word hobby
has several meanings one of which
says: A subject or plan upon which one
is constantly setting off; a favorite
and ever-recurring theme of discourse,
thought, or effort; that which occupies
one's attention unduly, or to the weariness

Emma.

Thanks for the tip. The word hobby
has several meanings one of which
says: A subject or plan upon which one
is constantly setting off; a favorite
and ever-recurring theme of discourse,
thought, or effort; that which occupies
one's attention unduly, or to the weariness
of others; a ruling passion.

I think I can take the two points here
if you don't mind. Do you Emma?.

That is exactly what i am saying. You only said islam is your hobby, and your definition of a hobby is "A subject or plan upon which one
is constantly setting off" thus i was saying islam cannot be a hobby without clearign your tense. You're right, hobby is a subject ,thus a noun.Noun cannot be a hobby.

Durgal
well-said
However, since you have highlighted a number of obscure and quite abstract points, it seems that you are talking to, according to hegel and Marx
alienated people.
In contemporary sociology and philosophy, alienation is generally understood as the sense of being estranged, shut out of the common life, the sense of being an outsider.
Alienation is the failure of the will of the individual to identify with the larger will of the society.
For example Durgal you are in a state of alienation when you find that the ideals and institutions by which your society defines itself appear to you to be meaningless, or false, and they form no part of you.
Alienation therefore is the condition in which you no longer identify yourself with the public morality and institutions of your society.
Since we somalis are certainly alienated to a great extent, which i believe doesnt need a proof, durgal, as you can observe it everywhere where there is a somali,we need to /ought to/must re-establish our identity, thus paving the way for a greater social identification with our values and norms.
In the meantime, revolutionary theories dont work in this world any longer where the international communities are now taking responsibilities on a united front to compat agianst people with violent and often destructive methods.
We are entering in an era in which as one philosopher has long ago said,," words are mightier than swords"
Besides all this alienation theories, Durgal,
how will alienated people accept your argument when they shut themselves up, and dont really approve their own values.
99% OF DONKEYS KICK THEMSELVES WHICH SIMPLY APPLIES TO SOMALIS IN GENERAL.
99.99% OF THEM ARE ALIENATED AND HAVE LOST FAITH IN THEIR SOCIETAL VALUES. SO WHAT IS NEXT?

Logical Guy, I take that as no to my question, do you want be proud of your country by transforming it into a modern nation? Well it happens, and I sincerely believe you have much more important issues on your mind. Before I comment some of your points, I would like to say that, in some cases, education itself can be a constraint to one's real interest. This is why? There are two types of theories practical or functional theories and delusional theories. The former can be proved its falsity by applying it to the real world. In other words, we look at how it performs against reality, not against other theories. In addition, these theories can be extremely useful, since they solve some highly difficult problems. The second type of theories are mind games, it has nothing to do with reality and they are value ladden. They are the kind of theories designed for maintaining social order by convincing others, even the enemy, that they can't do anything to change their condition.

Besides, your are trying to formalize the discussion by puting it in sociological context, and then employing its theories into our discussion. You did good job, and it is healthy transition, however it clearly shows how much constraint you have. I don't want to get into a long discusion, but I'll show you from one of your lines where such constraint exist. "Revolutionary theories don't work in this world any longer where International community are taking responsibilty on united front to compat against people with violent and often desctructive methods." Does it make a diffrence if this line were to come from someone living in New Hamshire whose father helped founding International Financial Institutions rather than a somali Immigrant whose country is destroyed by some evil external factors? Is Angel's theory of struggles applicable here, particulary the theoretical struggle? Positive, since you are using delusional text book theories. Agian, there is no "International Community". Besides, social revolutions do not happen every where, rather, it can only happen where theoretical struggles are won by those who represent the people. On the other hand, if you are convinced that you can't do anything to change your condition, then you are reading the wrong books.

This is a general warning to those Somalis who are studying Social Science; colleges are not educational places they are training places. They are the opposite of the games you watch on TV where you already know your team. Here Ideas clash, and always those Ideas that your University subscribes to get most of the fans. I recommend highly that you read the introduction of this book "Europe and people without history" by Erick Wolf. It explians the emergence of modern social science: Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, and so on. Without reading this book you will never understand the true identity of social science. In your case, Logical guy, you should give sociology to particular attention, before you take its theories seriously.

Durgal
As i observe, the force of your argument is rather aimed at me personally than what i have highlighted.
Anyway, one of the greatest mistakes a man can make is to distort the truth to a form of ficticious reality to suit his argument, namely when you said colleges arent educational places.
I leave that to your common sense and consciousness.
A well-known reality reduced to a mere training forums according to your words!
You appeal to pragmatic theories, to change a nation. How do you change a nation? Durgal.
According to you, the only way to change a nation is to destroy its economic foundation by appealing to the passions of the oppressed group with a theory of revolution which is appropriate to their existing conditions, and which will inspire them to act.
Your argument lacks supportive structure, mr Durgal, and loses its claim to an objective truth.
You are either trying to bla bla bla with no aim/purpose at all or you are just unable to come to terms with the conflicting theories you have been filled with.
The only danger in your argument is that a false theory may work in getting people to believe it and to take action to achieve an emotionally compelling political goal.
Should we call such theory true because it works in certain predetermined geographical locations such as Africa?
How well, and how long do such Marxist theories work when people act on them, and at what human cost of blood and destruction, and with what disillusioning outcome?
Of course, you are entitled to hold any views you wish, and it is not a matter of reading books about it than arguing about it.
There was no need on your part to suggest such a despising recommendation of a book i am well aware of of its imporatnce.
Formulating a point of a view, Durgal, doent depend upon reading a specific book.
Marxism and its revolutionary ideologies are confined to library shelves for the plaesure of reading.
Their applicability have been reduced.
A theory is a theory and will remain a theory in so fr as it is not falsified.
And finally try to change your attitude towards college as a training ground.
Colleges are educational as well as a training institutions.
Or perhaps you might come up with a justification much worse than this by using ambiguities in the sense of conveying that word "training"
But such justification on your part will no be really sufficient ground for a scholarly error as you have highlighted in the priori statement that colleges arent educational places.
hope your theories succeed.

"azeotropic mixture" lol lol lol You might me upto something, so high pressure would be enough. I figured, the arid somali Climate, the well cooked sands, spiki trees and Lions that will tear their flesh inside out, would be sufficient pressure. What type of pressure are we talking about here, surely not negative pressure, for that would crumble their long skinny slender bodies. So work with me on this, we must seperate them.

Aliyah ,

first of all thank you, and I wish you the best with your studies. I will be graduating this May with Bs/MSE in Bio-Medical and Chemical Engineering.
Ask your Advisor about Cooperative Program in which you spend up to one year in industry after completing your sophomore, or Junior year. you don't pay tuition during the work periods and instead are paid a salary by your employer. It's really fun program where you will meet professional Engineers who will help along the way. Call around and see if this program exists in your State sis, again good luck.

Single Somali,

I'm happily married Alhamdulilah, and I wish you the best.

Salaam to all:

To the Intruders,

Please, let us use our common-sense with the highest degree. As far as I can see, many penpals have visited here with "zero" degree of IQ. As Mr."JAT" claimed that he already got a MBA, and continued his degree in Phd as an Applied Mathematics!. What kind of education is that??:(.
I don't think that it works. Once, you get your MBA in accounting and business, you can never go to any field about Math as your Phd candidate. JAT, please know that we are more marquistic than you. Your creative work has a lot of malfunction. JAT, if you would give us some plausible words at the beginning, I shouldn't be immense your earlier postings.:). Sir, My rebuke was so little to you.

Fartun, Yeah you Right. Sorry, I was away a little while. Fartun, there are an "AMNESTY" Career here in North America. Isn't that an interesting, working as an envoy to your Country!, travelling and visiting your beloved land!:).

Peace.
