Instead of worrying what the others will think of us, just say allaha u naxaristo your somali brothers, which died in this accident. And remember the police could be laying too so don't jump to the conclusion, always stay by your brothers and help them the best way you can!
Don't worry what the americans will think of us! they do far more stupidity than us!!

mahdi,
thats the reason why somalia is ruined by standing(staying) by our killer brothers!
its time we tell and guide one another from the bad things.why would the police lie??its not homicide case!it is easy to detect blood alcohol level and find about vehicle registration and ownership.
about saying "Allaha U naxariisto" one doesnt have to write, its enough if one says by words instead of writing here.may be mg Ali did that way.
About what you said american stupidity, true they do far more worse but dont forget a way better too.but for us somalis just copying african americans who r lowest in US and wasting our times in doughnuts....??
May Allah guide All.

Hey Layla,

You are the one who is having difficulties expressing her feelings unless you insult someone and cuss at them. I expressed my opinion in a decent manner, but it happens that you cannot do the same. The only thing that you master to do is call people names instead of sitting somewhere and judging yourself.

Who are you to call me ugly and why the heck not express whatever you have to say without going so low?

Even though you did not deserve a respond, but then I just happen to be a sister of yours whether you understand or not and I cannot leave you running around with such a foul mouth.

Be ashamed of yourself and have some respect for yourself and others whether it is through computer or face to face.

How can you be standing up for those who cannot read and write in somali while you are putting another sister of yours down?

I think you should be the one to mind her own business and think about what you are calling people. If those terms apply to you, don't go around rubbing on other people.

So long and don't expect anymore responds from me unless you open your mind and look both sides before you run into cussing.

Sister.

Sister, it was wrong how Layla responded but she does have a point. I was born here and although I can speak somali very well I cant read it all that great. And even though you did not resort to cussing you still were mean. You basically said who cares if they cant read this too bad. So like you said to Leyla while you were flaunting your somali nationalism you were putting people down. If you were really decent like you said you would say Oh my bad I dont want to make anyone feel left out. Peace

Hey anon,

I did not meant to put anyone down, but the fact is that there are some people who surf in here and it is not great idea to let people know every little thing about us.
Imagine, we are claiming to be religious people, but we are doing all the things that are not right. What would this look like in the eyes of a stranger, foreinger?
It hurts so bad when people read about this kind of stuff and then come to discuss it with me, I don't want them to know everything we do, we just need to have some values of our own instead of being just plain followers of everything. We need to have somethings that we can keep to ourselves and all the time I am running into brothers and sisters who feel ashamed of admiting to say they know their own language.

If you don't know the language it is okey, but please at least try to learn it. you can never imagine all the advantages that it have.

Sister.

To anon. I don't understand what you mean stand by our killer brothers: I never said that and they are not killers in this case, they are victims for accident. when i said help your brothers, i meant help them in right way!
About the police were you there when they took the blood alcohol exam? my guess is "NO". They are known fo turning around cases and making the victims the suspects.
When you saying the african americans are the lowest in this country, i think that is just your opinion you shouldn't generalize all the afro race because there are a lots hardworking afr americans out there!!.
Remember everyone have opinion this is just mine.

READING AND WRITING SOMALI LANGUAGE IS EASY AND NOT THAT HARD. SO, THOSE BROTHERS AND SISTERS CLAIMING THEY HAVE DIFFICULTIES ABOUT THE SOMALI LANGUAGE, DO SO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND LEARN IT.
BUT THE ISSUE HERE IS NOT THAT..........
IT'S SAD TO SEE OUR YOUNG SOMALI TEENAGERS OF BOTH SEXES GOING ASTRAY AND BRAINWASHED. YEAH A LOT OF YOUNG SOMALIS, SPECIALLY BOYS ACT LIKE NIGGAS AND DRESS LIKE THEM. I MET THESE GUYS AND ASKED THEM WHY ARE THEY THIS WAY? NO ONE COULD GIVE ME AN ANSWER PLUS I FOUND OUT MOST OF THEM CAME FROM RURAL AREAS AND CAME HERE WITH THEIR RELATIVES- NOT IMMEDIATE FAMILIES. THESE KIDS FEEL ALIENATED AND ABUSED BY SOMALIS IN GENERAL AND THEIR TRIBE IN PARTICULAR. THEY ARE FRUSTRATED AND HAVE NO HOPES AT ALL.
ONE GUY TOLD ME HE HAD BEEN IN A REFUGEE CAMP FOR A LONG TIME AND WHEN HE GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME TO AMERICA HE WASN'T EVEN EXCITED ABOUT IT, THEN HE TOLD ME HAS A DIFERENT NAME, AGE AND ALL HIS BEING WAS FORGED. THE FAMILY HE CAME WITH WERE ALL ILLITERATES ( MOST OF THEM DON'T WRITE, READ ANY LANGUAGE )AND THEY HAD BEEN RESETTLED IN IOWA, HE HAD TO LEAVE THERE AND GO TO MINNEAPOLIS AND SOME OF HIS COUSINS WENT TO CALIFORNIA, GOERGIA AND OHIO, WHERE HE SAID THERE ARE LARGE SOMALI COMMUNITIES.
THESE KIDS NEED GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING, THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH A LOT.
BUT THE SAD THING IS WHEN THEY ARE HERE FOR A WHILE, THEY START DOING SOME DRASTIC MEASURES TO CATCH UP AND BE ACCEPTED IN THIS CULTURE. THESE KIDS HAVE NEVER BEEN TO SCHOOLS, CAN'T WRITE OR READ BUT AMAZINGLY THEY PICK UP SOME EBONICS AND EMBRACE THE THUG LIFE.
THEN THEY ARE YO AND NIGGA DIS AND NIGGA DAT. THEY DROP OUT OF SCHOOL COS THEY DON'T WANNA BE EMBARRESSED AND BECOME THE LAUGHING STOCK. YOU KNOW HOW SCHOOL KIDS ARE CRUEL AND PLUS THESE ARE REFUGEE KIDS WHO CAME FROM WAR TORN, UNDER DEVELOPED WORLD PLUS THEY ARE THE SMELLING, SUB HUMAN AFRICANS TO THE EYES OF THE WHITE MAINSTREAM KIDS PLUS THE AFRICAN AMERICAN KIDS ALSO FIND OUT SOMEONE THEY COULD PUT DOWN AS THEY HAVE BEEN DONE TO FOR AGES AND THERE GOES THE CONFLICT, CLASHES, THEN SOMALI KIDS FIGHT BACK, RETALIATE WITH VIOLNCE, STUB OTHER KIDS WITH KITCHEN KNIVES AND THEN THEY ARE EXPELLED FROM SCHOOL ALSO THERE SOME SCHOOL SEGREGATIONS GOING OUT. ESL CLASSES AND SO CALLED SHELTER PROGRAMS. KIDS CAN'T HANDLE THAT, THEY DON'T HAVE SUPPORT AT HOME, THE UNCLE OR THE AUNTIE THEY WITH ARE STRUGGLING WORKING AS CLEANERS AND FACTORY WROKERS. THEY CAN'T EVEN HELP THEM WITH HOME WORK LET ALONE GIVE THEM SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE. SO KIDS DROP OUT OF SCHOOL, DRESSES LIKE NIGGAS, SMOKE WEED, GOES AROUND CARJACKING, HANGS IN CLUBS AND AGAIN COMES ACROSS AND MEETS THUGZ, PIMPS, DOPE DEALERS AND ALL LOW LIVES AND THE SCUM OF THIS SOCIETY TO EMULATE . THESE BAD FOLKS BECOME THEIR IDOLS, ROLE MODELS, ENEMIES AND FRIENDS
IT'S SAD BUT THAT IS FACT? WHAT WE COULD DO ABOUT IT NOTHING SINCE WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY WE HERE AND WHY WE CAME...
MAY ALLAH HELP US ALL AND FIND US A WAY OUT OF THIS TRAGEDY....AMEN

basra there is a saying IF THERE IS WILL THERE IS WAY what it means if you want something you can do it, i undrstand your problem , but is not the problem that is the problem is how you solve the problem , if were not born in somalia it dos not mean you can't learn to read or write it and really like the brother said above somali is really easy to write and read personally it took me one day to do that , so sis like you i guess would take few hours , and remember this is somalinet and it should be writen in somali not english coz there too many english websites , anway my point is that somali language is our identady and if lose it we have lose our identady, mahadsanidiin ilaahay wiilashaas ha unaxariisto dadkoodiina samir iyo imaan ilaha ha kasiiyo.

Nubian Boy please don't go so low with your sister.

Layla, be reasonable, do you think it is easy for us to speak, read and write in English just to make you understand us? Also keep in mind that we were also born in Somalia and grew up there.

Which one makes more sense, you to learn your native language; even though you were not born there or me to learn and use foreign language to communicate with my fellow sisters and brothers who don't want to make the sacrafice?

Please tell me which one is a good option without being selfish.

Back to the subject at hand, ( ilaahay ha u naxariisto wiilashaas danbi dhaafna aan u barino, say uu muuqato fal fiican ku maysan dhimane.)

The Equalizer

Friday, March 23, 2001 - 12:59 pm
To: Mg Ali

Just for the sake of clarification. According to the media, a Ford Explorer, driven by Faisal Mohamed, 22 and three of his friends flipped over several times after hitting a wall. Three of them were pronounced dead at the scene. Another one, who was seriously injured was rashed to Grady Hospital. He was in a coma for less than twenty-four hours. He's out of the coma now; however, his prognosis are not very promising.

The four guys were coming from a Somali wedding party that was held at Comfort Inn. I myself was invited to that wedding party, but didn't go to. Some people claim that they were being chased by the Doraville Police. However, the police deny that.

The word on the street is that instead of four passengers riding the Ford Explorer, there were five. One of them walked away unscathed and sneaked away before the police came.

Rumor has also that they were all drunk and the car they were riding was stolen from a local mosque. Yet, the TV reporter at the scene of the fatal accident didn't mention that.

All three boys were buried abreast on Monday afternoon. The latest news about the accident mentioned that two medical students who happened to be at the scene of the accident that night are suing the Doraville Police. They said that two of the three dead boys were still alive, but the Doraville police turned them away telling them that it was a crime scene. The students believe that they could have tried to save them were not for the Doraville police.

To end, I would like to bring to your attention that a teenager is a person whose age is between thirteen and nineteen. The driver for one wasn't a teenager, I don't know the ages of the one who fled and one of the dead. However, there was one teenager among them who was only sixteen years old.

As far as how all this will affect the Somali community who live in Atlanta. I would say zilch. After all, there are bad apples in every family, every community, every nation, and so forth. That doesn't mean I condone bad behavior, but I'm simple being realistic about the whole thing.

The latest news from the car accident.

The only survivor from the car accident died on Friday 23rd. He will be buried today. May Allah Almighty forgive them all (Amen!!!). The only one who knows what went wrong that night is the boy who walked out of the car unscathed and fled the scene. Question is, "Will he have the nerve to come forward and face the Doraville Police?"

Basra your word never ceases to amaze me that all your words - to me is urban hip-hap @#$$, so you and the others #$%% whom can't read Somali please stand up!!!

Here is a message to the many of you; we have no right to 'judge' our brothers. (alaha u naxariisto dhamaantood.)
How can anyone ever criticize our country about anything? We should criticize America. Of course we are a third world country as one brother stated, and as such morally superior to us in America another evil 'Western' country. It seems to me some of us don't understand the nature of the accident, that is why are off the topic. Now back to the topic...
You people who say we have no right to judge make me sick. Three of our citizens, probably innocent ones, brothers have been killed and you just don't care. It should be our obligation to care. I don't exclude police crime. The reason I say this is American police create accident, crime etc, and they call it to serve and protect. The seriousness of the crime does not preclude the nature of the evidence. Obviously with no enough investigations in our own communities, there is a fair chance that these men might be innocent. Do you even care one-way or the other? Yes I do and I think a lot of you tend to agree with me, if we have strong community in Atlanta, that goes after the police cruiser's video-tape we might find the truth.
So we as Somalis aren't good enough to judge American police, cuz they always right. Wrong huh. Instead of hiding our faces we have to face the fact and move on. Every nation experiences such a trauma we won't be the first and the last. As more successful in ever possible, let them (American) measure us what we stood for that the day the accident, rather than what they think of us. Judge them how they preserve us. Apparently a positive aspect in a society is what we all looking for but that is not to put down the American or African American people in general.
